On top of the world...
I won a prize today!!!! yipeeedooodeee (okie, I didn't really need to sing, but am thrilled to bits :)) )
Okie, so heres the story (if we can call it one)....About last month, in a moment of supreme insanity, I signed up to present at the Graduate Research Symposium. Today was the day to 'talk the talk'..... It was only yesterday that I realized that there were going to be prizes given out after the talk...and wonders of wonders...I actually won 2nd place in the college of science for my research on 'Peer reputations and gender differences in academic self-concept'. One of the judges even told me how they had a really hard time deciding between the first n second prize. I now have a really neat plaque and a 50$ gift card from Barnes & Noble for my efforts :))...
It's been sooooooooo long since I won a prize (the last time being March 2000 when I won my last and final prize from Gargi college)....So it felt really good to win a prize...and feels even better as its a propah wooden plaque with golden lettering n all...If I were home in Delhi (still consider that to be home...no matter how many tiles I lay or rooms I paint out here!) I would have spent a considerable amount of time admiring all the trophies I have (thanks mainly to colony Badminton tournaments :) ). Oooooh, maybe I can ask my mom to get along all my trophies, so I can keep them here with me, to show off to my grandkids someday, and let them know that their fossilized grandmom was cool at some time! hehehe (sorry-I ramble...)
