[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]

Name: Keisuke Nago
Age:  21
Gender: Male
Fandom: Kamen Rider Kiva
Timeline: Right before he’s blinded by Bishop, trying to resolve the Kiva case and save Wataru.
History:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamen_Rider_Ixa#2008

Character Personality: Nago tends to see things as black or white, right or wrong, just or criminal. There’s little room for any interpretation but his own-- the man deals with a strong set of morals and a code he must thrust upon all others. He’s very direct, blunt, and has a somewhat, very forced, polite way of speaking. The man’s not very complicated, but the root of his problem is this basic need for justice. His justice, of course. He’s a man suited to routine, regulation and playing by his own rules. This is all very important! Thing is, he’s also a man that can change, and he really has during the course of his journey.

He’s introduced to us as a user of IXA -- a fighting system that has been updated from 22 years ago. The suit itself has a history, and Nago finds it important to show honor to that, in his own sort of way. Still, he’s very possessive of the suit-- IXA is his IXA, despite the fact that many others have used it before him. When this suit is taken away from him at a point in the series, Nago breaks down! He starts to try petty means to get it back from the person it was reassigned to, and then wholly gives up in a fit and attempts to train this new user instead to properly use ‘his’ IXA.

He’s still this powerhouse who views justice as The Most Important thing-- but basically after having everything he knew and loved handed to him on a platter, then getting kicked in the gut and thrown out, Nago tends to have his moments of... disconnect with reality. The man sometimes goes a little off the deep end! He settles back down, but from that low point Nago settles out into an altogether slightly more reasonable man, though he descends into that occasional insanity in order to repair his damaged psyche.

He’s not kind-- he’s never been kind -- but he does listen a little more when others are speaking. His opinions can be the ones that vary and change, but it’s only a little more flexible than things were. His motivation always lies with the right kind of thing-- saving the world, after all, is serious business. He never loses his dedication or his love for justice; he merely becomes introduced to a very few shades of grey. He’s able to accept Kiva as half-fangire, and yet still working for the human agenda. He learns to work with others instead of rejecting them fully.

Nago’s not a man for apologizing to others, however, and he likely never will. He has always been sure of himself-- even in his failures. The truth will not truly hit home with him until he is beaten down by it and had his face shoved in it a few times. As such, most of his outlook tends to still suffer from his own self-imposed blinders, though he’s not a bad strategist. He can fight, he’s especially adept at fighting, however, he tends to overestimate what he can and cannot take in a battle and is not that difficult to outsmart (though he isn’t stupid, even relatively so.) though a few underhanded tactics.

In the same vein though, he’s incredibly brutal and merciless while fighting! He will not hesitate to smack someone’s head into the ground, throw them against a wall, whatever. He is very exact in these methods, however, once again, he can toe the line of being pretty chaotic about it. The man doesn’t really care about the welfare of those on the receiving end of his punishment. He will not relent until he has what he wants-- whether it be a button or a life.

Nago’s approach to most moral issues is very traditional. Women and men shouldn’t live together under the same roof unmarried. Group dates are unconventional and downright weird. He’s really a proponent of again, classic values that he himself defined. There’s also a distaste for frivolous things, music most of all. He’s so very buttoned up! Speaking of buttons, this man has an obsession.

A few obsessions, but we’ve already covered his lifetime affair with justice. The man collects buttons from the bounties he takes, a trophy. He really really needs to pull the button off and then keep it! He keeps the string of buttons on him at all times. They’re considered lucky to him, which is odd, considering he’s a man that relies so much on the definite. Those are his most valuable item, to him, even though he tends to use it as a defense as far as chucking it in people’s faces goes.

Despite all these very apparent flaws, Nago is not an inherently terrible person; he seems to represent the mythical knight, paladin of justice. He really does want to do good-- he has a loyalty to his company and friends unrivalled. He throws himself in whole-heartedly when someone does gain his trust. Though he hated Kiva at the very beginning, now, he would count Wataru Kurenai his most trusted student and friend. He feels he needs to educate others-- and he has a true want to do good in this world. Nago ends up becoming a great help in the end, fulfilling the true role of IXA -- a protector. He falls more fully into his role, because all of this, the classic knight-- a soldier, even, disciplined and frugal, but in touch with humanity and his own weakness.

Character Abilities:Nago is for all intents and purposes, human. Pure, unadulterated homo sapiens. Like, not super-human or anything, but just very human. This is what makes him a great user for IXA! Non-humans don't do so well. However, Nago is not without talents of his own. He's highly trained in combat, with great endurance. He actually apprehends fugitives outside of his suit; he's fast and attacks without mercy. Taking down others is no problem of his at all. Once he starts, it's also pretty hard to pull him off of a person he's started in on.

As a soldier, Nago's trained with using firearms; he's seen using a sniper rifle with great accuracy. It's safe to assume he's trained with others as well. He can also drive various construction equipment. He's a warrior, through and through. Nago's got strong opinions and a stronger will to protect; in fact, this is what drives him to be such a soldier, his will to protect humanity. His dedication is matched by no one else's-- his strong sense of justice propels him to do more, go harder, and be more... well, right than anyone.

Fun fact: he's very skilled with his hands, whatever that means. Hopefully this is more in reference to his ability to detach and reattach/mend buttons. It's just mentioned in passing in the movie, so. He can also compose his own exercise routines.

Character Weaknesses:  Nago’s main weakness is himself! He’s very prideful and egotistical; as a result, he tends to be. The man, if humiliated, is pretty much crippled. He rushes in, and can’t accept anything less than the most true of justices! He’s not as bad as he used to be, but Nago’s still easily caught in his own hypocrisy. He tends to exhaust himself a lot as well, and will fight until he is unable to any longer, despite the fact it’s probably not a good idea to.

Justice blinds him to a point of no longer being even remotely sympathetic, if he gets too caught up. As well, if Nago’s utterly defeated and wounded, he will end up being a little bit more than utterly insane and scrabbling to make ends meet and do something for the purpose of justice. Seriously, all the time, justice justice justice. He’s also incredibly obsessive over certain things-- if he’s apprehending a criminal, he has to get a button of theirs. It’s necessary! He’d even go to lengths such as breaking said criminal out of prison, taking his button, and then re-arresting him. I’M SERIOUS.

[ MEISTER ONLY SECTION ]

Why your character should be a Meister: Nago is very assertive and he’s very good at combat-- he’s already used to using IXA to fight, and would not be satisfied merely being a tool to fight. He needs action! Excitement! He’s experienced in combat, years of that. He’s also direct and easy to handle, so it wouldn’t be destructive for another person to work with him. In the end of canon, Nago is promoted to running an entire organization by himself, because of his talents and worldview. He even draws another character to following him through most of the series as his teacher, instructing him in the ways of the world and how to fight and be just. Even when he loses IXA, Nago still tries to help by coaching the next user via cue cards and helpful instructions.

Meister Ability: Soul Adrenaline; Soul Coordinate; Soul Focus

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]

Soul Description: Brave, Focused, Just, Honorable, Combative, Obsessive

Soul Appearance:  A very dark blue, perfectly round (though surprisingly flat... like... a button), Soul, Nago’s soul isn’t very complex or flashy, but the color is very strong. It’s got sort of a B| face to it, and doesn’t float or bob around very much.

First Person: [a very sour-looking man appears on-screen. He holds a string of buttons in his right hand; he seems to be fingering the band in an act of concentration; perhaps containing his own fury and outrage at the situation. His voice is forced when he speaks, the words almost paining him.]

I wish to be home as soon as possible; so I shall proceed as quickly ahead as I am capable of doing. Please cooperate with me.

I am Nago Keisuke. Please reply quickly with more information; please do not contact me with anything irrelevant. I do not have time to waste.

This situation is becoming infuriating fairly quickly.

[he glances away from the camera, then, scowls again, before reaching to flip off the feed.]

Third Person: The sky was favorable. The man shifted his footing, standing at the end of one of the city’s streets, waiting on the edge of the sidewalk. Reaching inside his vest, he pulled out a string of buttons, his mind going over each and every capture. The buttons held similar weights-- but he knew the difference in every one, the oldest becoming slightly worn from the time he’d had. It was a career, and if one stopped to think that there was a criminal for every button on that string, one chase, one fight (though some were, undoubtedly, more engaging than others), one could almost understand the great importance it held to its possessor. Nago sighed, narrowing his eyes and looking towards the horizon.

He could do this; he could succeed. He looked back at all the past failures in his life, his stumbles, and he knew. They’d humbled him, but did not bring him low. It was all thanks to one person-- and Wataru would have his gratitude, and his grace. Shima-san had told him, before, that his feelings would make him weak, but Nago refused. He would succeed-- and his mind was clearer now. He would fight, not for himself, but for humanity’s sake. For the sake of the humanity within Wataru. . . He nodded, closing his hand over that string of buttons, testing that weight again. He was sure-- his life was building up to this, the most important thing.

He inhaled slowly, glancing at the city around him. He would protect this. He would protect all of them; it was what he had to see, through all his tribulations, what he was really fighting for. He cared most for them- it was what his justice was all about. He knew now, how to cope and learn with loss. He knew now, how to take defeat in stride. It was that defeat that spurred him on now, because he knew why he lost- why it all fell apart.

Justice would prevail; Nago was confident of this now. He couldn’t consider anything else. The man felt his will returning, and he released that string of beads. He could feel them hanging against his chest, a familiar weight. He could do this all, now, his mind was settled. Not that it was ever unsettled; the man would be startled if he ever had a really difficult time deciding things. He learned on the fly-- and nearly everything was habit, by now. He began walking, a slow pace, crossing the street. His hands found his pockets and he tipped his head up, eyes bright.

The man felt confident. He just needed to continue his mission, and everything would turn out all right. Wataru had done so much for him-- he was sure he would repay the other for every bit. He would have faith in the youth, just as his student had faith in him. It was strange, feeling that trust, but there was no one else he could believe in more. He knew what was right would come in time. For now, he had to fight what he could and wait the other to bring the Fangire race down. Wataru was as human as Nago was-- there was no doubt in his mind-- no matter what his blood said.

The thought was so vastly different than what he had originally thought of Kiva, it almost brought a smile to the man’s face, a low, quiet laugh. Shaking his head, he was filled with warmth about it. Truly, this must have been the feeling of companionship. Friendship, even. It was good. He was glad of it all. The only thing shaking him out of that small reverie was his cellular phone going off.

He pulled it out, glancing at the screen. Another Fangire had appeared-- Nago took off, starting to run, then, heading towards the location noted. The man dropped all other thoughts immediately, legs working, shoes pounding against pavement. He would bring another Fangire to justice-- he was spurred on only more by the rest. Now he was fighting to defend something so much more valuable.

And then he stopped. Darkness drowned him, swallowing up around him. The man glanced around, shaky on his feet once the shift happened, alarm clear on his features. Nago assumed a defensive stance, the growl easily heard on his lips. His hand went instinctively inside his jacket to grasp for his IXA-Knuckle, and came out empty. His words came then, demanding, and nearly spat, “Please tell me where I am. I demand to know. Where is my Knuckle?”
