I got my dream job at a place called Mountain Sports. ( www.mountainsports.com ) ( <-----check it out!)
I'll be selling all sorts of mountaineering, climbing, hiking, kayaking, camping, skiing, etc. equipment. Plus, they hired me on the merit of my journalism experience so I'll be writing copy for their website, which is where they do 60% of their business.
I get a good discount at the store but this is the best part...
Through a sales network of which my store is a part, I get up to 65% off WHOLESALE prices of a number of really quality outdoor gear brands. That means, for example, I could get a $250 North Face jacket for around $80! WOWEE!
I'm really so excited, I think this job was meant to be. It pays well, the benefits are awesome, and it is in a field that I really feel good about working in. So much better than a smelly bar with a bunch of bored, sad drunk people.
Oh, I'm almost guaranteed a newspaper internship at San Antonio's biggest daily, the Express News, under the wing of a senior editor who is a friend of my mom's friend, who is apparantly interested to meet me. I just read a book he wrote so I can break the ice when I meet him. COOL!
Who among you do I know that live nearby, I feel all my friends live away from me? Let's go!
