Myers-Briggs MADNESS

I'm curious as to what all of your Myers-Briggs temperaments are. Me, I'm an INFJ. I've taken the 'real test' before as well as all sorts of cheesy online ones and it always come out the same. That, and I most strongly identify with the descriptions of INFJs ( Read more... )

Man, EVERYONE is getting into Myers-Briggs lately. I have been obessed with it for the past few weeks, actually, but have really only mentioned it twice in my own journal, although I've been thinking about making a bigger post about it. I also seem to test INFJ on most of the tests. However, I took one test that ranks the development of you cognitive processes (Ne, Ni, Se, Si, Te, Ti, Fe, Fi) instead of having a bunch of I vs E, S vs N, T vs F, J vs P questions, and it said my preferences most strongly aligned with...ENTP. I don't think I'm an ENTP. I mean, I think the T vs F is my weakest preference, although I do lean slightly F, and my N preference is very strong. I made a ton of comments in another friend's journal about the test, which you can see here. If you are interested in this particular test (the preferences ranking one), you can take it here.

Where/when did you take the real test? I'm really interested in taking it myself because I seem to score INFJ on most of the tests, but after this one, I don't feel so sure.

And what is it with half of the people who post about MBTI being INFJ? I mean, yes, INFJs do love personality tests, but I think that's more an NF characteristic than an INFJ characteristic specifically (NFs are "identity seeking," after all).

I took the real test twice, both times at Whitman. Once when I went into counseling for something and another time at the Career Center when I was having a 'what the fuck do I want to do with my life, who am I, and what do I want?!?' crisis. Good times. The test is something like only 70% accurate. A lot of people are forced into certain traits and habits because of family and work situations and thusly the actions they normally do don't correspond with what they would naturally do and their tests results get messed up. And of course no one has every trait of any one temperament and different people express the same traits in many different ways.

I think anyone can take it at community college career centers though you may have to pay a fee of some sort. And I guess you would have to be in the States to do that. But wait, you're going to be in Walla Walla this fall! Totally go to the Career Center and take it. It took me about an hour but it was a lot of fun and you get a really extensive printout that says a lot more then any websites do.

And yeah, I've been obsessed with Myers-Briggs for quite a long time now. Since high school I guess.

Ooooooh, yay, I hope that's not only for current students...I'm probably going to go to the career center ANYWAY in my "holy shit I'm back in the US and UNEMPLOYED" moment, so I shall find out about it then. =)

Oh, and one site I want to share...infj.com...lots of interesting information, and I found myself relating to a lot of the stuff in the "handbook."
