A Slight (Shitty) Change in Plans

Fucking great.

Zac doesn't want to come out this week to help me out. He has better things to do, more important things to do. You see, he finally decided that he should go out and try to get a job this week.

Does anyone else besides me see what's wrong with this picture? You've been unemployed and leeching off your fiance for almost 8 months, and now she's jobless, homeless, and in the poorhouse from either losing or giving up EVERYTHING to try and take care of you. Her health has suffered, and her happiness has suffered, and she hasn't been able to live her life for herself in nearly a year. Now she's less than a week away from getting thrown into a homeless shelter, and there doesn't seem to be any way to avoid it, and NOW you finally step up and do something about it? Priceless.

So, uh, in other news...

Because Zac decided to give me a now-show, I tagged along with Mike yesterday and went to the DFACS office here in Fayetteville myself to ask for that referral letter. They had NO idea what I was talking about. They finally just gave me a little letter to hand to Calvary Refuge that said, "Stephanie Schoepple is homeless and jobless and does not have any case with our agency." When I got home, I called Calvary to see if that would be sufficient and they told me that it wouldn't. Apparently, they can only directly help residents of Clayton County, people who work in Clayton County, or people with identification from Clayton County. I meet none of those. The woman I spoke to said that Calvary couldn't help me--at least not directly--and I would have to call the Metro Atlanta Taskforce for the Homeless.

So I called the Taskforce. They told me that they couldn't do anything for me until the day before I was going to become homeless. The expectation they set for me was that the day before I'm going to be homeless, I give them a call, and they try to find a place to put me. If I have a place I'd like to get into (Calvary, for example), they try that one first. If they have any space available for me, the Taskforce will make sure my situation meets any requirements they have, then give me a referral, and work out how to get me in there. If they don't have any room? The Taskforce shoves me wherever there's room, and I can't say no to going there because they're required by law to keep homeless people off the streets if they come to the Taskforce asking for help. SWELL.

Even more swell is that I have a respiratory infection that came from Miles's little cold. My immune system is the most immense of humongous fail, and I went from sniffles and coughs to high grade fever and trouble breathing. No more job means no more health insurance and no more money, means I can't go to the doctor and fix it. The only thing sitting around here for me to take is Ibuprofen for the fever and pain...meanwhile this infection is seeping into my sinus and deep into my lungs.

Sick, no access to medicine or medical care, and being shoved into any hole I can be stuck in against my will.

Soooo...why is suicide a total cop-out again? o_O
