Enigmatic Cat...

Gosh, long time no update!  This just won't do!

Life is chugging along quite nicely for me at the moment.  I have continued along my crocheting streak and am currently finishing up Royce's gloves, having just crocheted a border for a top of mine in order to eliminate my navel from view.  Actually I got quite lucky; I saw the yarn on sale, figured it would probably be the wrong colour but at $2.50 I could hardly go wrong, and imagine my surprise when it was exactly the right shade of mint green!  Delightful!  I have also been stocking up on yarn whenever I see something I like, which unfortunately means that my only recently tidy yarn draw has become two overflowing ones, and needless to say my room is once again a shambles!  Still, it's nice to have a bit of a supply.  Now I just have to rack my brains and come up with some projects!  I bought myself a heap of 'denim' coloured acrylic shiny stuff with the hope of making something sort of biggish, seeing as it was $1 per ball.  I also have 5 balls of mohair that I picked up at an op-shop, as well as a number of balls of chunky yarn which is always fun to work with.  I'm thinking I want to make myself one of those newsboy-type caps only with a puffier crown; whee!  Oh, and I finally finished off mum's beret and managed to put a nice peak on my brown cap; hurrah!

Alongside all that, I am desperately transfering about 35 gig of stuff from my computer to the study computer so that I can once again grit my teeth and undergo the most odious task of reformatting the hard drive.  Yuck.  Still, everything is running so sluggishly that I figure my registry needs a good old refurbishing, so I might as well just grin and bear it.  Much in all as I would love to just buy a new laptop, this requires money, a commodity which I currently do not have!

And of course, now is the bit where I give an update on Royce!  Shortly after Amanda headed back home, Royce's parents and their friends popped by for a final stopover before enbarking on their Tasmanian sebatical.  Once they swooped out, Royce's brother swooped in.  Actually, he 'swooped' in just recently and shall be nesting for a week or so until he and Royce both head off to Tassie to visit his parents.  For a family that is spread over three states, they all spend a remarkable amount of time in each other's company!  As for Royce and I, we are great.  He came down to the beach with me, mum and my grandparents for a night and a day (it was meant to be longer but we forgot that his brother was arriving on Saturday night!).  We were driving down the freeway towards the beach when he asked if I had meant it when I said that the brooch he was thinking of giving me would be tainted if he ended up giving it to me.  If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry, but some of you will.  Anyway, I said no, that I thought it would be more special because it was something tricky that we had worked through, at which point he started rumaging in his pocket!  Well, I just kept looking at my crocheting and pretending I was oblivious whilst he dug around for a few minutes, then watched as he handed me a small box!  So, he pulls over to the side of the freeway, turns the light on so he can watch me open it...  Inside was the most beautiful matte silver brooch in the shape of a cat silhouette, complete with a collar of alternating saphires and tourmalines, engraved with the words 'ENIGMATIC CAT'.  What can I say?  I couldn't have come up with anything more perfectly attuned to my taste if I tried!  I'd like to say I was speechless, but me being me, I blabbered on for ages; I couldn't shut up!  A precious gift from a very precious person.  Nana had it all figured out though; she looked at it, told me how lucky I was and told me that I had better be a very good girl!
