Sick, Creative & Rearing to Read...

May 16, 2006 23:54

This is a journal entry to inform you that I am now officially sick. Some sort of nasty evil cold that has taken away any quality of voice and left me with a crackling high pitched whispery thing. Not nice, especially since I just discovered how much I like Live (the band). I also have a crapped up nose and am coughing up crap all over the place. For those of you who are familiar with Royce and his journal, I got it first! Bummer.

Aside from that, life is peachy; after sucking in the cost of getting set up for my quilting project, I had a ball! I now have a rectangle of ten nine-patches, a rectangle of five nine-patches and ten loose nine-patches. Going nicely! I also have a whole bunch of crocheted squares, several of which have been stitched together into the beginings of mum's birthday scarf! I feel ever so clever! The mood was slightly dampened when nana criticised my attempt at a border as being 'horrible' (bearing in mind that I had only been experimenting on my own for five minutes), but this was quickly rectified when several minutes later I worked it all out. After all that, I have decided that I don't like the idea of a scalloped border anyway, and plan on just continuing in the same square shape. Nifty.

Along with all that, I am psyching myself up to read "A Brief History Of Mine" by Stephen Hawking, which Royce has kindly bought and loaned to me. Here's to discovering black holes! Actually Royce is quite the source for all things knowledgeable. Well, maybe not ALL things, but he has offered to teach me maths, and crazily enough I have agreed with interest! Guess absence really does make the heart grow fonder...

Speaking of his Royceness, me likey! (Duh.) On the weekend he cooked a rather delicious meal of homemade pasta and salmon and avocado in a white sauce; YUM!!! Tomorrow he's coming over and teaching me how to make herbed beef. He's mine. All mine. You can't have him. We have also taken to playing chess with each other, which I think is just gosh darned nice! So far I have yet to win a game, but it doesn't really bother me, and seeing as he played in tournaments (and won) he is teaching me a few tips and tricks and helping me improve! Jolly good I say!

Anyway, we have decided that in order to pace ourselves we will only see each other on weekends and Wednesday evenings, a good idea but hard to implement! He stayed on Sunday night this week though because mum has some sort of nasty condition. Her doctor thought it was asthma and was monitoring it incase she needed to get rushed to hospital (a la Royce), but after visiting the specialist she isn't sure so it's lots of rest for the next week. Anyway, Royce and I went back to his place to pick up some clothes and lo, he had forgotten his keys! We were about to just drive back home when I suggested we check the windows for break-in-ability. After a bunch of rattling and much "let's just go Annelise", we found that his bathroom window was open. By now I had ripped off the scarf around my mouth that mum had begged me to wear (*rolls eyes*) and, amid much protest about how high it was and how hurt I would get, I assessed the situation and promptly shimmied up the sewerage pipe and right into Royce's bathroom! Good gracious, am I skinny and lithe or what?! After much guessing for a magic word (it only took a few tries), Royce was let into his own home and I earned the nicknames 'Monkey' and 'Cat-Burgular'! Very very chuffed I was, especially since I did NOT break Royce's rather precarious sink!

And now, on that note, I bid thee farewell. Oh, wait, guess what?! It's Royce's birthday on the 20th and mine on the 23rd! Hurrah! Birthday weekend here we come! Even cooler because Royce's parents land back at his place on Friday and then Amanda is coming up soon and I get to meet her and yayness!
