CHARACTER NAME: Nepeta Leijon
FANDOM: MS Paint Adventures: Homestuck
CHRONOLOGY: Just after attempting to avenge Equius’ death.
CLASS: Hero!!
SUPERHERO NAME: Pouncellor
ALTER EGO: Nepeta Leijon, student.
BACKGROUND:
Nepeta is a troll - that’s about where we’ll start. The trolls live on a planet called Alternia, in a universe that is separate from our own universe entirely. It’s a war-torn environment where their race is essentially in a claw-your-way-to-the-top society, where one must seek to benefit themselves over all others in order to survive. When trolls are children (‘grubs’), they must go through a series of trials to prove whether or not they are essentially worthy of living. If they survive, they are greeted by a guardian who chooses them based upon their blood color - a guardian called a ‘lusus’, who protects them as they grow older. Their society is a bit more complicated than just that, however - they operate in a class-based system wherein their blood color is indicative of their social status, with purple being the highest (‘highbloods’) and red being the opposite, lowest side of the spectrum. Nepeta’s own blood is a dark green, nestling her somewhat in the middle of the class system - though she is one of the few trolls who does not seem to be adversely affected or influenced by the colors of everyone else’s blood. She does not discriminate and makes friends for the sake of having friends.
Trolls are raised much differently than the humans in Homestuck - leading to interesting and quite unusual cultural misunderstandings and shenanigans. In Homestuck, the trolls play a monumental role over the humans in that they are essentially the creators of our human universe. The name of the game is SGRUB - a game that, at first, seems like a life-simulation game that is as cryptic as can be. While the exact details of the game’s plot and end goals are still being unraveled and revealed in the comic, the very bare-bones description is this: at the end of SGRUB, all of the players face off against the end boss and ultimately create a brand-new universe. In the case of the trolls, that brand-new universe was ours, full of humans. The trolls were successful in their game and created their universe - however, their own planet was going to be destroyed. Turns out, that universe they created was necessary for them to move in to it. Unfortunately, some pretty intense shenanigans went down and the trolls were ultimately denied their chance to enter the universe that they had created - stranding them on an asteroid to watch the humans grow up in the world they’d created.
Now, the trolls need a universe. Fortunately for them, the humans started playing a little game called SBURB - the human equivalent of their own. This leads Karkat, the self-proclaimed leader of the group of them, to attempt to orchestrate a system in which they help the humans not mess up their own fate in playing SBURB so that they may create another universe in which to live. The trolls begin to communicate with the humans via a chat client called Trollian, jumping back and forth through the human’s timelines and cryptically assisting them in their own game session to benefit both the humans (if unintentionally) and the trolls - because, welp, one kind of needs a place to live.
We first see Nepeta when the trolls are beginning to play SGRUB, and Karkat has declared himself the leader of a team - splitting the 12 troll friends into separate sides with which to play the game. Karkat is trying to collect other trolls to join his team and, near desperation, contacts Nepeta to ask her to join his team. She agrees to do so, and promptly contacts Equius -- her closest friend and essentially her platonic soulmate -- to tell him all about the game. Equius then tells her that he is going to be on the opposite team from her, and finds out that she’s agreed to join Karkat’s team. Equius then commands her not to join Karkat’s team and to instead join him on his team. She’s disappointed by this but does not want to upset him, and switches to the side opposite Karkat in order to obey Equius’ wishes.
In game, we only get to spend a brief time as Nepeta, during which we learn much about her personality and her likes and dislikes. We see her most often when there are strong developments between character relationships and she runs to make additions to her shipping wall - a wall dedicated to pairings that she has been keeping track of between all of her friends. When each character essentially makes their own planet in the game we see Nepeta in the The Land of Little Cubes and Tea (LOLCAT, effectively) where she is hunting and killing monsters to gain experience and entertain herself while the plot essentially progresses. Much of the timeline continues without mention of Nepeta until the point in which I take her from; wherein Gamzee - the author proclaimed ‘most important character in Homestuck’ goes on a mass-murdering rampage and she and Equius are hiding out together from him. It is assumed that Nepeta and Equius were spending their time together off-screen, essentially, while most plot development was occurring without them. When Gamzee begins his murder spree, Equius instructs Nepeta to take cover and whilst she does, Gamzee sneaks up and attacks and kills Equius. Nepeta promptly leaps from her hiding place to dutifully avenge Equius’ death, her claws bared, but is overtaken by Gamzee and ultimately falls victim herself.
PERSONALITY:
Nepeta is a troll, six solar-sweeps (13 human years) old, who is snuggled safely in the middle of the social blood-color hierarchy of trolls - though her blood color does not matter to her. She is perhaps the ‘cutest’ of the trolls, and takes on the personality of a young, eager fangirl. She is overall an innocent character, though her innocence is betrayed by her ruthless troll hunting instincts. She is represented by the astrological sign of Leo, and takes on the features and behaviors of a cat - wearing gloves with retractable claws, a catface’d blue hat, and a blue tail all to go with her cat ensemble. While she appears to be juvenile character who enjoys playing games and cosplaying more than other prudent things, she can be taken seriously quite easily when it is necessary of her and will defend her friends at any turn. Nepeta is loyal and kind, without a mean-spirited bone in her body. She is also the moirail to Equius - essentially the platonic soulmate to him; a strong and disciplined troll who is quite definitely her opposite. She is the one to calm him down and keep him company when others will not, and she cares for him deeply - attempting to avenge his death immediately when it occurs.
Nepeta, while being the friendliest to each of her other trolls, is also the one who keeps tabs on their relationships. Trolls have a very complicated system of relationships that is separated into four quadrants - which I’ll spare you the details of - and she is the one with a ‘shipping wall’, eagerly mapping out each individual relationship between each character and keeping tabs on their closeness and their likelihood of becoming a couple. As she would say - it is a lot of hard work, but it is entirely worth it. Nepeta’s loyalty to her friends is strong and it would appear that her friends appreciate her as well - even going so far as to role play with her in return even when they are the least willing to deal with those shenanigans. While she may seem like just a silly, cat-loving cosplaying fangirl at first, there is much more to her as a character. She is a loving friend who does not see blood color in her society; she is a huntress who does not believe in wasting any of her kills, and she is a dedicated moirail to Equius even through his untimely death at the hands of a friend.
POWER:
For the City, Nepeta will have the power to matchmake. Somewhat like cupid, I imagine she will be capable of creating ships and setting them sail - so to speak, and making others fall in love with one another. The effects on others will only be temporary, however, and will only affect characters whom are already in a quadrant with another character by her definition. So say two people have never spoken - then her power wouldn’t work on those two characters; only those who have some sort of chemistry, be it hatred or true attraction. It would work like a voodoo doll, wherein she draws out her ships and posts them on her shipping wall and the characters begin to feel the effects of its draw. She can essentially amplify feelings between others.
She will also of course have her Wolverine-like claws and her speed, though those are just skills and not so much powers.

[ When the video clicks on, the viewer is greeted by bright, entirely yellow eyes. The face finally pulls back to reveal grey skin and a cat-like mouth, on a nervous and curious visage.] Where is this place? I haven’t seen anything like this before… I remember leaping at Gamzee ferociously! Now I’m here? Equius… [ Her curious somewhat-grin has become a frown, now, and she looks rather distressed. The video clicks off easily then, her words switching to text only. ]

LOGS POST (THIRD PERSON) SAMPLE:
It did not take long in the City for Nepeta Leijon to catch onto each and every potential ship. Sure, there were hundreds upon hundreds of people here in this place - strange and wonderful people - but each and every one of them had to have a counterpart, didn’t they? Nepeta knew for sure that they must. With a whisk of her hand, the young troll grasped a handful of crayons and curled up on her couch - a sketchpad in her other hand. An eager purring sound reverberated from her as she began to wrack her mind with the people she had met and observed, imagining each of their most prominent features and drawing up her most adorable renditions. When each drawing was completed, Nepeta happily tore page by page out of her sketchbook - taping them all to her largest wall in her MAC apartment. Sure, she wasn’t with her friends anymore, as far as she knew - she certainly wasn’t at home. But that did not mean that she could let her shipping wall go unattended! Shipping was serious business, and there were plenty of them that must be near sail and needed her immediate attention!
With a step back from her creations, Nepeta surveyed the expanse of wall that was now papered with scribbles upon scribbles of familiar faces from the City - each with an assigned counterpart, each with their most fitting quadrant symbol. She smiled eagerly in a way that was reminiscent of a cat’s grin - her yellow eyes alight with pleasure. Grasping for her communicator, she just knew she had to inform the network of these most important changes! Nepeta easily turned the communicator on and clicked into video mode, sharing her beaming face before recording each and every one of her newfound City-wide ships. Oh, she thought, there is just so much work to be done!
FINAL NOTES ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER:
Nepeta has claw gloves, which she would most certainly like to take with her if that is possible.
