Singing nothin' but the blues

I'm in the mood to LJ update! So life....life....life.

I'm drunk. My neighbor Jessie and her friend Nicholas made me go out with them again tonight. I don't know what I'm doing out on the streets of River Falls after midnight. I have no business being out there. My kids are going to be up in 5 hours and here I am trying to sober up.

Norm's still in school. I'm hoping this time next year he will have his degree and we will be living a little more comfortably. I won't feel guilty buying Kraft macaroni and cheese instead of the store brand. I know, pathetic, right? Right. That about sums up our life right now. Am I dwelling in self pity? No! I still have a husband who loves me, my kids who are my life and are healthy, a roof over my head, food to eat, yada yada yada. I just wish.....I just wish we could go out and do fun things again. I'm not even talking about sans kids or anything (it took me nine times to type out the word "about", by the way). I just wish we had the money to take off for the weekend and do something fun. Heck, I even wish we had the money to buy a car that could get us to places to do something fun! Both our cars now have 224,000 miles! At least they're both paid off.

Had a great 4th of July weekend. The kids and I went to Iowa to stay with my parents. Our car broke down in Des Moines. Thank goodness for my parents, who came to our rescue and paid the bill to get it fixed. Slowly but surely, we'll be paying them back. Norm didn't go. For one, he had to work. Secondly, he is severely allergic to my sister's cat, Carmel (who is the best cat in the world, by the way. He purrs in your ear while you sleep.) My sister and Blake have this incredible banter between the two of them. She gets him all riled up and he turns all sassy. So fun to watch the two of them. Anyway, the kids had so much fun outside. We swam in the pool, they rode their Gator and Jeep, played on the swing set, played on the train my dad built for them, went to see Cars 2, painted rocks, ate enough fruit snacks to feed a small army, the list goes on.....

It was karaoke night at Corner. They shut things down right before I was supposed to sing. I was going to sing Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' by Journey. I rock that song. And I'm mad that I didn't get to sing it. The karaoke guy told me to come back next Wednesday. Ha!
