I am too exhausted to write much today. Maude and Olivier made their return flight to Toronto yesterday morning. Sam and I have the rental car for one more day, so we decided to pick up thirty pounds of pea gravel, three bags of manure, a patio chair or three, a metal table for the barbecue, a new deadbolt and doorknob, a cordless weedeater, twenty five pounds of cat litter, and a large bag of charcoal. Phew. Did I mention I have had a persistent cough that lasts more than ten days? Yeah, all swine flu jokes aside, my cough and cold is not getting better. It is likely due to the fact that I have been running around with our out-of-town guests for five days, getting little sleep, and working. Having the car was really nice, since biking with the cough in full sun and high humidity makes me wheeze.
Olivier brought his camera with the crazy lens for their trip to North Carolina.
Our back porch made ready for the cocktail party. Note that Sam rigged up rope lights to the edges of my shade sail to light up the porch at night.
Olivier and Sam couldn't resist shooting the BB gun at an empty tin can in the backyard.
Preparing food with the facial expression of "You better get out of my kitchen if you aren't going to start chopping something."
Sam putting out tablecloths, setting up the bar, and getting the grill ready.
Maude thumbing through the "Best of the Bottle" recipe book, deciding which cocktail for starters.
The bike gang shows up with the tandem and touring bikes for a rainy Sunday brunch at Guglhupf, while I wait tables.
