I just finished Odd and the Frost Giants, by Neil Gaiman. It was simply marvelous. Not only is it entertaining and an easy read but it gives a wonderful grounding in Norse Mythology ( Read more... )

We've stated before how much the kids like books. We've been known to bend on a lot of treats if faced with the cry "It's a book!" I mean really, they're books.

Last night we went to the book faire at school. And we spent (or more to the point, nounsandverbs spent a lotta money. Not only did we get a book for each of their classes, but there was the angst and drama over their choices.

Anyone ever read Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfeild? I did. Boy, did I ever. I read that book and every other one of the Shoes series. I read my library dry of them. I don't own all the copies, but am slowly amasing them thru used bookstores and re-printings ( Read more... )

I just finished reading Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine. I am, well, enchanted. It was a lovely romp of a fairy tale. And I am impressed enough to look up her other books.
