Apollo 13

In honor of the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing we watched Apollo 13 for the kid's movie time today.

We get to the part where they start stirring the oxygen tanks. They get a little scared and ask if they all live. I tell them that they do.

Later when Tom Hanks is getting Houston to check his math I say "Remember, they had no email, no picture to picture communications, no big computers, no calculators other than simple addition, just a phone and their brains."

Celia says "So I guess they're good at math."

Jack says "I bet Jeff would be great in this. But I don't want him to be up in space because I don't want him to take that risk. And I bet Charlie doesn't either."

Celia says "He's be really good on the ground with the other scientists!"

I love these little geeklings.
