All I need to know I learned from Wicked Faire...

Well maybe not, but going this year has taught me a lot about going to cons and this one in particular.

  • I am in my thirties. "Let's face it, I'm older and have more insurance!" I have no desire to sleep on an air mattress (not that I did, nor did I have to) or share a bed (unless it's by invitation). To that end I will be getting a hotel room for both Friday and Saturday Nights next year.

  • There are a lot of us who go to this convention. I think it would serve us well to chip in together to get a suite. Not as a place to sleep so much as a place for all of us to hang out. That way our rooms can be used for... sleep, and the suite for the orgy hanging out. That and we always pick up a few strays. We need a place to put them.

  • I think I need more planning on the food. Not that I went without because those I was sharing the room with put in more planning than I (and in fact deserve applause and gratitude for such planning and Irish Whiskey Icing), but I'd like not to have to eat out more than once if at all possible. I'd rather spend my money on stuff. Having a suite will also help out all those involved in this endeavor.

  • I need more outfits than what I brought with me. I need a day outfit, a night outfit, the costume contest outfit, and a party into the wee hours outfit. Something for the last one that while still sexy and flirty, does not involve a corset or binding shoes. Something easily accessible Something that I can relax into later, but still can go room hopping in. And more jewelry. I really needed more jewelry.

  • One must prepare pajamas that are suitable for the 11:00 news... just in case.

  • As much as it is a bitch, bring more than the pretty shoes.

  • Be careful whom you talk to about other people. People will find out what you said. Respect will be lost. But hey that's true of anywhere and not just Wicked Faire.

  • Showers are a god given gift to those of us upon this earth. Use that gift widely and often. Invite a friend even!

  • Bringing along the laptop, the phone charger and the photo chargers are good things and not just an extra trip to the car. Finding food places and up to date technology is paramount to our geeky lives.

  • And finally, a shout out to friends. For it is at cons that one learns which friends were brought up right. When you go with friends, you go with friends. Communication is paramount... and cell phones.
