also on the topic of movies, i have currently in my posession a rented copy of "the man who fell to earth" in all it's two-disc glory. who IS the man who fell to earth, you ask? well, i'll give you three guesses but you'll only need one. ... ... ... ... *cough* ... ... ... oh for christ's sake, it's david fucking bowie, like come on. ahem. but yeah, it's the first movie he ever made, in the 70's. rip torn is in it too, and my GOD i had no idea he was *ever* that young. i won't go into the specifics, but the essential plot line follows a strange, pale, fiery-red-headed young man who is, in fact, an alien, come to earth in search of large amounts of water to bring back to his dying planet. sounds lame? well fuck you, you don't know what you're talking about. ... sorry. actually i imagine most people would find the movie disturbingly non-sensical; the concept ridiculous, the effects laughable, the acting - while actually quite good - not up to par, and the sight of both rip torn's AND david bowie's respective reproductive organs - in full view, i might add - undesirable to say the least. but i still like it, and plan to watch it many times over. so... yeah.
