Sam and I have been having this debate for years now.
I don't like turning the heat on. It's not a cost or environment thing for me (although lower cost and saving the environment are cool side effects), but rather because the heat dries out my skin and the dry air messes with my breathing in a time when my breathing is already being messed with. Usually, especially because of the breathing part, I win this debate -- especially because the last few places we've lived, it's never gotten that cold in the winter. (Especially the last place, where we were right over the water heater, and the hot water ran along our walls and heated our place year round. Not so good in the summer.)
This year, however, we're in a corner apartment with more walls exposed to the outside air in a very shaded area. And this isn't the best quality construction in the world, so a lot of heat escapes and a lot of cold air gets in. And the debate has cropped up again.
Sam thinks it's unreasonable to have to wear long sleeves, much less a sweater, at home. He's kinda irritable about having to wear pants. :P I don't mind long sleeves, and I don't mind sweaters. (I'm a knitter, for christ's sake.) I have pointed out that lots of people keep their houses much cooler than we do and happily pad around in sweaters and slippers at home, but he is undeterred.
So I put the question to y'all:
1) What temperature do you keep your home in the winter?
and
2) What clothing do you normally wear inside your home in the winter?
