I am cutting my hair short. Perhaps even short-short.
Here's the story:
As part of a food drive at his school, Sam promised to shave his head if they got to a certain target number of cans of food. He did this without consulting me, saying "But it's in the name of charity! It's good to sacrifice in the name of charity!" Except it's not a sacrifice for him, because he doesn't care if his head is shaved. In fact, I have a sneaking suspicion that the only reason that he hasn't shaved it before is because I have begged and pleaded with him not to. I love his ringletty curly hair to death, and I don't honestly, like the way his hair looks when shaved. (The other guy who is doing this also has a girlfriend, and she is also pissed. I need to find her so I can tell her to do this to him.)
So in essence, he's not sacrificing anything, BUT he volunteered me to sacrifice his wonderful curly hair. Which isn't fair to him, don't you all think? That he doesn't get to sacrifice ANYTHING for charity, when he so wants to? I don't think that's fair to him, and because I live him soooooo much, I'm going to do something about that.
I am cutting my hair.
Sam loves long, brown, straight hair. He thinks its very sexy. I have long, brown, straight hair, and I keep it long, despite it being a royal pain in the ass, largely because I know he likes it that way. He always looks a little disappointed when I get a bunch cut off it. So screw cutting off a little bit -- I'm cutting it SHORT. And it's staying short until his hair grows back. (I'm considering bleaching the crap out of it, too, so that it won't be brown anymore, but there's the problem with roots when I want to go back to brown again, and I don't know how I'd look blond)
I have a great hairstylist who I trust with this, but I'd like to find a style that I like to guide her a little bit. The criteria are such: It must be no longer than down to my shoulder blades, and it must be reasonably easy to take care of, as close to 'wash and wear' as possible. I don't mind clipping a barette in it or something, but I'm not breaking out the blow dryer and styling gel.
Any ideas?
(Oh, and Sam is going to comment here and say that he likes my hair short, too. This is a lie, or at least a half-truth, designed to trick me into not cutting my hair. It is not going to work, because I've seen how sad he looks when I get a bunch of it cut off, and he once even flat-out told me when I asked him that he didn't like the new length because he'd preferred it when it was longer.)
