Better mood now

Well, two things have eased my utter outrage at the idiocies of the government (outrage that's going to be back as soon as I see the next headline, I'm sure.)

The first thing was that I was in a scene with my latest MUSH character, Jericho, and someone I was playing with paged me out of the blue to tell me that the character totally reminded her of Lord Peter Whimsey. Lord Peter is one of the inspirations for Jericho, but he's the creation of a woman who is so much in a different class of writing than I am that it's almost a crime to call what we both do the same thing. For me to imitate Lord Peter so well that someone who'd also read the series caught it is just -- holy shit. It's the biggest compliment EVER.

The second thing that happened is that the owner of Common Grounds offered me free food. This means that I have officially crossed the line from 'person who keeps coming in and hogging the table in the back' to 'regular'. I totally don't deserve the food, either, since I hog said table for like six hours or more at a stretch, I use their internets, I dump a pile of bags and notebooks in the corner, and I spend -maybe- $5. (I sorta feel obligated to buy -something-.)

So anyway, yay me. I'm still on a high from being compared to Lord Peter. Seriously. If you've read the series (Dorothy Sayers) you'd understand what a high compliment that is. And if you haven't read the series, get thee to a library/bookstore/amazon.com and get yourself the books. You all know what a picky reader I am, so if I say they're good, they've got to be fantastic. :)

(Sam likes them too.)

ETA: When I Am Rich And Famous, I'll tell all of my screaming fans who are throwing their underwears at me because they're so in love with my writing that I did most of the finishing of my first novel, and wrote almost all of my next novels at Common Grounds and repay them for all of the stuff I should have spent money on, and didn't when my screaming fans start coming on a pilgimage/to be cool/to absorb some of my holy writer vibes. Really. ;)

i win!, lord peter, common grounds, rpgs, writing, mush
