Well,
nickel and I are off on our big adventure to San Diego, where I hope to score some really nice yarn and a Sluggy Freelance book, and he hopes to score a job drawing comic books or game art. I'm fairly certain to get what I came for, he's less so.
Yesterday, I went and had my hair dyed bright, anime blue. The guy who did it reminded me so much of Richard the Costume Shop Guru (not in appearances so much, but in behavior the resemblance was so strong that I almost slipped up and called him 'Richard' a couple of times) that I have hereby dubbed him Jerry the Hair Guru. Wednesday, my daddy took me to get some bras that fit me -- it turns out that somewhere between the last time I got bras (several years ago) and now, I have gone up a cup size, so now my bras actually *gasp!* do their job and keep my boobs from sagging halfway down my torso. :P I also got a skirt, an eyelet lace cardigan, and a lace wrap that are teh hotnesses, and in my teh hawtness getup, I will venture onto the floor and make friends, with the intention of trying to weasel invitations to after parties and all-night drawing fests out of people. Then, of course, I'll turn up with
nickel in tow.
With his leet drawing skillz, he's going to be better at getting invitations than I am, but he's going to be standing in line at portfolio reviews and less free to circulate. Since my drawing skillz are more n00b than l33t, I have to fall back on the oldest form of persuasion, as it were. By which I don't mean hitting the other guy over the head with a rock, although that would probably produce interesting results. ("Hey! It's Stan Lee! Mr. Lee, can I talk to you for a moment?" *THONK!*)
In other news, it would seem that when I am sleep deprived from waking up at the buttcrack of dawn, I tend to type in AOLspeak and think it's funny.
Anyway, if any of you wind up over that way (
natsunekko, I'm looking at you here) then look for me. I'll be the girl with the bright blue hair, wearing either a short pleated skirt in blue and green plaid or a long black lace skirt. I'll be knitting a green sock. Please don't be shy about coming over and saying hello. We're all friends, after all, and I'm going to be lonely as hell.
*sigh* Okay. Time to make the final preparations before leaving. Yesterday I went to PetCo and spent way too much money on my cats. I bought Cordelia a catnip scratching pad like the one she scratched all the way through a while back, and I bought don Francisco a toy with a ball inside a tube where the point is to bat the ball around inside of it. He loves it and hasn't left it alone since I brought it out for him, so hopefully it'll serve as a channel for his boundless energy and he won't torture Cordelia too much. And if she does, she'll hopefully be too high on catnip to care. To be honest, I don't think they're going to miss me very much, if at all (and PLEASE don't anyone disagree with me on this one. I need my delusions, thankyou) but I'm going to miss them like crazy. I have trouble sleeping in strange beds as is, and I'm really going to have trouble sleeping without one of my kitties asleep on my feet. Last night, I was wide awake until don Francisco stretched out and laid his head on my feet, then I passed out within minutes.
Wish me luck, everyone.
