i was just reading a discussion involving some people calling themselves radical feminists and some other people calling themselves sex-positive feminists. i don't really know what these labels mean, but the discussion was about sex industry, personal empowerment, and feminism as a collective movement.
as i read, it became increasingly difficult not to get angry at reading more and more comments about men who say certain things, men who act in such a way, etc. sweeping general comments playing into exactly the sort of prejudiced stereotypes that i thought feminism was supposed to be all about fighting. the comments weren't angry, and i don't think anyone was trying to be inflammatory; the words were just sort of lying about, rather nonchalantly, mixed in with paragraphs about whether or not prostitutes are sabotaging feminism for everyone but themselves.
being a man, of course, makes very difficult for me to expect anyone to take my anger seriously. i suppose it's ironic, really.
