Summary: Again, done for stargateland's "Anywhere But Here" Challenge, where you write a character in a horrible situation, and what they do to distract themselves from said situation. Chloe is abducted by the blue aliens again, and she needs a little distraction.

“Okay, so…I have to keep calm…one step at a time…right, Daddy?” Chloe Armstrong rocked back and forth while clutching her knees as she sat in a dark, damp blue-hued room. It had to a nightmare - it just had to be. Blue aliens, again? What did they want from her?

Beginning to shake again from fear, she shook her head quickly to rid herself of the terrible thoughts. She couldn’t think about that - because it simply made things worse. No, she had to stay positive. ..She managed that for a few moments until she saw water seeping into the room, slowly. Backing into the corner away from it, she shook her head again.

“It’s okay. It’s okay. I mean, it’s just a little water. Why would they fill up the whole room, r-right? Ha…ha..” She feebly laughed to herself in an attempt to make herself feel better, and then suddenly, the water stopped.

--

About a half hour, it began to seep into the room slowly again, slowly dampening the floor and making its way to her. It would take a bit for the large room to fill, but it would, and she wondered vaguely if this was some form of torture. Aliens and water tanks dancing around her brain, she did the best she could to drift into an awful slumber.

--
Shock enveloped her when she awoke later on to a heavy coldness against her knees, and it took her a moment to realize that said water had made its way in quite a bit when she had slept. Gasping from the chill, she jumped up, and found that the water reached her waist, so she simply waded around, attempting to keep heat flow within her body.

“Got yourself into some trouble, little one?” She spun in shock when she heard a familiar Scottish accent and saw him leaning casually against the wall, his legs disappearing into the water as hers did - as if he were actually there. Chloe couldn’t help but gasp in surprise, and then couldn’t help but smile - a familiar face.

“Isn’t that the norm?” Chloe grimaced to herself as she thought of all of the trouble she had caused the people aboard Destiny.

“Come, now…you’ve done a lot of good.” She laughed, to which he looked confused, so she shook her head apologetically before continuing.

“I guess it’s just kind of weird to hear compliments from you…not really your norm, if you get my drift. Besides, you’re just being nice. I’m a heap of trouble, and I’m sure the crew would agree.” Waving her hands dismissively, she sighed as she sunk into the water, cringing slightly as the coldness wrapped around her body like an ice-blanket.

“That’s it, then?” She heard the sound of his wading towards her as he continued, “You’re just going to give up, then? That’s not the feisty Miss Armstrong that I know, if I recall.” He sat down next to her now, and despite Chloe feeling the ripples from his body, she shook her head and smiled at him sadly, gently touching his shoulder.

“Kinda funny that out of everyone aboard that I’d pick you to help me through this, huh? Then again, we’ve been through it together…but…you don’t recall. You only recall what I recall, and that’s...well, as much as I wish you were, you’re not Rush…you’re a little nicer, matter of fact.” Despite the sadness held in her voice, she attempted to end with a feeble laugh, although she wondered if she’d rather have the real Rush here - at least he’d nag her to death if she didn’t die of drowning or hypothermia first.

“…God….I’m gonna die here, aren’t I?” With that, she leaned her head against the back of her watery prison and shut her eyes tightly, wishing the world away.

--

“Shh…it’s alright…” She felt her hair being stroked, her eyes had trouble opening, but she could see a blurry image of a face in front of her, stroking her hair. At first it was her father, who made her feel more loved than anyone else in the entire universe, then, Eli…who made her feel like she was actually someone back when she wasn’t anyone, then, Matthew…who made her smile with his soft, Southern drawl and naïve and innocent attitude, and then surprisingly, morphed back into Nicholas Rush, whom was holding her head above water in his arms softly, still stroking her hair.

Shock enveloped her as she splashed around for a moment which caused her feet to lose their ground, and she tumbled underneath the water, and it filled her nostrils and throat like a burning mist, suffocating her. A pair of strong arms pulled her above the surface once again as she choked and sputtered, again, Nicholas Rush. His eyes held soft concern as he pressed her cold and shivering body against his own - surprisingly warm, given the situation.

“Y-you’re not real…” She sobbed into his shoulder, knowing the awful truth.

“I’m still here…right here…” He whispered, taking her hand with his own and interlocking his fingers with hers.

“Only because…because I want you to be…”

“Your Rush is trying to save you - I’m sure of it. After everything that you’ve been through together, he wouldn’t allow them to kill you, Chloe. You must…have faith.” He cupped her trembling face with his warm hand as he said so, and she couldn’t help but cuddle into his touch.

“You told me after I was cured that ‘faith’ was something you never took very seriously before…but now…everything happens for a reason, huh?”
“That it does.” He whispered softly, pressing his forehead against hers for a moment before embracing her.

“I’m sorry. I’m what your conscious wishes he was, but not the man himself. …Yet still, you chose him above the others, including your father, your best friend, and your boyfriend…why?”

“Would it make any sense to say that I absolutely trust him in certain ways that I trust nobody else, simply because of the strong understand that we seem to have?”

“I…I can’t give you much, Chloe. Not here, not now. Our time runs short…” He frowned, and that was when Chloe noticed a clicking sound - the alien’s speech, a sound that she would never forget. They were close, and she froze against Rush, clutching his shoulders as if he were real, terrified.

“I’m going to die, aren’t I?” Chloe pulled back and looked straight into his eyes, and he didn’t nod or disapprove, he simply leaned forward and brought his lips to hers strongly, aggressively, before pulling away.

“Remember the strength that he taught you to have, Chloe. Remember, if you want to survive.” With that, Nicholas Rush disappeared.

Chloe almost fell to her knees in agony at being left alone again - exactly what she was afraid of, until she remembered what he had said. The aggressive kiss, reminding her of the passion that often lay dormant in her system.

“Dammit…I’m…Chloe…Armstrong...proud daughter…of Sen-Senator Armstrong…and I’m sure as hell…not letting them get me, again. Not again. I’ll…I’ll make it. He told me I could. I will.” Her strength turned into concern, and yet even while she looked around the room and saw nothing that could help her grand exit, she now felt like she had a reason to go back, and not just to live.

This hallucination had confirmed it. She was in love with Nicholas Rush.

If that wasn’t a reason to go back to Destiny with a story to tell, she couldn’t imagine another.
