...still alive!
Whoa. I sort of disappeared for a while there.
Anyway, hello everyone! I'm still alive, and I currently am in California. With everything that's been happening before I left last week, I completely forgot to mention that I had another tripped planned. I will make a picture post when I have more time, but for now, here's a quick recap of last week until today:
1. Made it one piece on the flight from FLL to CA, although technical problems in Atlanta ended up delaying my flight for 3 hours, and landing me in Los Angeles airport at 1 am on Thursday morning, instead of Orange County airport at 9pm on Wednesday night. I did meet interesting people, and hey, I managed to sell 3 cards on the plane. I also have a potential business card design commission. Yep, all this on the plane.
2. I've been staying for the first few days of my trip with the wonderful mrsbnickel and yoda_1965, and got to meet the adorable new addition to their family. On a less pleasant note, the management of their apartment complex is somewhat shady and possibly has a deal worked out with a towing company in another city, as they saw fit to a)not properly notify residents about the new parking rules re:guests and b)tow my rental car in the middle of the night on Saturday (!!!) I've gotten my car back since then (thank you yoda_1965 ;__;), but geez. Is it too much to ask for no more car problems until I manage to at least fix mine??
3. Further car problems notwithstanding, last weekend was Anime Expo weekend, and it was a blast. I got to cosplay with isako , see cc_lemon and petkamui again, got to hang out with my sweet koudelka and animiko (okay, this time we have to meet up when I'm back in FL :D )
4. Long Beach possesses unsuspected charms. Well, the arts district and the area around the convention center certainly are very pretty. I took lots of lovely pictures there.
5. Am staying over at trinsan's place. We spent the 4th of July comfortably at home, and watched the fireworks from a cliff overlooking the beach. Also, her hubby and I cooked. He made delicious chicken with his sikrit blend bbq sauce and I made strawberry filled crepes.
6. Actually, am currently staying in LA with ojouchan and her fiance. Decadent clubbing with my girls is in the plans for this weekend, provided I don't do anything too crazy with my poor neck.
7. Yes, I have been taking myself to the chiropractor (and I now have one in each state...). Just went for a session yesterday, as a matter of fact. Am going again on monday for massage therapy. It turns out I do have a mild condition that requires immediate attention, but it should be easily treatable. For now, I am taking it easy and not lifting anything heavy.
8...Speaking of Long Beach-- I'm going to have a table at the Second Saturday Art Walk next week! On Bastille Day, no less. Baha. Perhaps I should fashion myself a little French flag. I'm totally psyched. This was sort of a last minute thing, but I'm very glad I decided to bring a lot of prints and cards with me. I'm not quite sure how it's going to work out yet, but I'll be trying my damnest to make it happen. Now all I need to do is find a folding table and chair (s) and perhaps some lighting...
