Life's moving along, which is a good thing even though it terrifies the side of me that still struggles with anxiety. That seems to be getting under control. I'm learning a lot about my responses and what works, what doesn't. Steve is too I think. For so long he felt like being sympathetic in the middle of a meltdown was rewarding my bad behaviour in a sense. Now though he's learning that compassion from him can level me out enough to help me get past the meltdown, make smart decisions, and move forward. Regular meditation leads to fewer meltdowns too. Steve notices a difference when I don't meditate, so it's important to make time for that.
We've saved up a house deposit, so we're moving forward on that. We went out looking at places yesterday, and we've got an appointment at the bank next week for preapproval. The house-hunting went OK. We sort of fell in love with one place, got the parents down to have a look, and then had them tell us everything that was wrong with it. That's important though. They see things that I don't see. I get besotted by orange kitchens and outdoor spas. They see a painted wooden exterior which will need a repaint every five years and a cobbled together garage that isn't legal. I felt a little silly getting them down to the coast for something they thought was terrible, but it's a learning process. It's early days. We've got time to find something that's perfect, or that has the potential to be with relatively little effort. It also gave us an excuse to have lunch out, something we haven't done in a really long time. We'll definitely make a return trip to the restaurant at Fisherman's Wharf. Insanely fresh seafood cooked to perfection, and reasonably priced to boot.
And just because I can't be bothered making a separate post for it, here's what's on the meal plan this week. The risotto is one of my favorites in terms of healthy risottos (my absolute favourite blue cheese and pancetta one doesn't come in under our preferred calorie count!) Really looking forward to those cottage pie cakes too.
