Disclaimer: If this is anything to go by, it might be a good thing I don't own the Power Rangers... Saban does.
Warnings: This is horrible crack. I say this, because it's crack, it's not particularly funny crack, and it is absolutely horrible. That being said, enjoy! :D
Rated: K+? For mentions of vampires and blood. It's not graphic or anything, and absolutely no violence, but if you're super squeamish...
Summary: PRiS AU. Just after Zhane wakes up from hypersleep, Andros has to tell the other rangers something about his best friend.
A/N: I'm sticking with the working title, because apparently I used up all my creativity on writing this and have none left to come up with a title. Wow. I didn't have much creativity to begin with, now did I?
Vampire!Zhane
"There's something you should know about Zhane," Andros said, poking a fork into his fruit salad nervously. This never went over well. He had convinced Zhane last night to let him tell the others first. Now he wished that he hadn't. Still, it was better that he tell them than Zhane.
"What is it?" Cassie asked after a moment.
Andros sighed. He might as well get it over with. "Zhane is-" he caught Carlos' eye and his voice faltered. He had heard about many of their experiences as Turbo Rangers, including one in particular involving Carlos. They wouldn't take this well. He swallowed. Still, they had to know, if for no other reason, because Zhane would insist on it. "Zhane..."
"Yeah?" A voice came from the door way.
Andros looked up just in time to see Zhane walk in. "Zhane! I was just..." he trailed off again.
"Telling them I'm a vampire?"
"What?" TJ and Carlos asked simultaneously. Cassie coughed, choking on her juice, and Ashley just laughed.
Zhane paused at the Synthetron, turning to look at them, then at Andros.
"I hadn't told them yet."
Everyone's eye went to Andros. Except Zhane's, who just shrugged and turned back to the synthetron.
"Wait," TJ said, "you're kidding, right?"
"No."
Now it was Zhane's turn to be stared at as he came over to the table with a mug.
"You're..." Ashley stuttered.
"A vampire?!" Carlos exclaimed.
"Yup." Zhane said, taking a drink from his mug.
"Are you serious?" TJ asked, looking between him and Andros.
"'Fraid so," Zhane said, not seeming the least bit phased by the conversation.
For the next few minutes, everyone just sat there, their breakfasts forgotten on the table. The only sound in the room was the soft hum of the air circulators and the occasional sipping sound as Zhane drank from his mug.
Finally it was Cassie who broke the stunned silence. "Is that blood?" she blurted. Her voice sounded far louder than necessary in the close quarters and the quiet room.
"It's hot chocolate," Zhane told her.
The look on Andros' face said that that's not all it was.
The other rangers exchanged looks, no one knowing what to say.
Zhane looked up, "I don't eat people."
"What... do you eat?" Ashley asked tentatively.
Zhane gestured around the table. "DECA can synthesize anything," he elaborated when the others didn't look any more enlightened.
TJ looked down at his scrambled eggs that were slathered in ketchup. Suddenly, they didn't look so appetizing anymore.
"It is eight o'clock in Angel Grove," DECA announced suddenly.
"Oh!" Ashley exclaimed jumping out of her seat, "We have to get to school." She looked down at her half eaten breakfast. Normally, she would have taken the toast or banana to go. But somehow, she just wasn't that hungry anymore.
The four of them put their plates back in the synthetron and gave Andros and Zhane a quick goodbye before teleporting down to Earth.
Andros sighed, "I thought you were going to let me tell them."
"I thought you had," Zhane said, taking another drink. "You've been up here for ten minutes."
Andros shook his head, "We have diagnostics to run. Finish your blood and meet me on the bridge," he said, already heading out the door.
"Right!" Zhane mock saluted. He grinned down at his mug, running his tongue over his fangs. It was good to know that after two years, Andros still took himself far to seriously.
