I was at the Fremont market because my awesome Nepali bag that I've been carrying with me everywhere for a year is falling apart and the guy who sells awesome Nepali bags goes there. But of course, the one bag I really like is going for $30 and I feel silly paying so much for what ultimately is just an accessory. Besides, what do I need a bag for if I have no money to keep in it? So I went to the sewing store and spent about $12 on various supplies which have now been transformed into two bags which suit me even better than the one I saw at the market. Plus, sewing occupied me for a couple of afternoons which is good because I probably would have been eating babies or shooting up or eating babies while shooting up had I not been thus occupied.
Burda 8560 with two clearance polyester home-dec fabrics. One of them melts hardcore when I try to iron it. It's an unlined bag but all pieces are interfaced so it looks and feels rather finished. I was lazy so the seams are raw but I'll probably fix that some day (when you give me a serger. Yes, you). It's all happily topstiched and fits a whole lot.
Burda 8235 with a clearance polyester home-dec fabric and lined with The Fabric From Hell. It's all topstiched and seam-finished and awesome.
Oh, I finally finished this. It sat on my to-do pile for about a hundred years (or one, at least). I drafted the pattern from a shirt I have and used New Look 6952 for some of the basic shape. Assymetry is neat, at times, but not in excess.
Sometimes I really bore myself so I sit with a carton of ice cream and a spoon and just eat.
