I really want to update at the moment but we don't have any internet access in our flat as we're moving to a new internet provider (Sky! With Sky tv!) so I'm updating in work. Don't tell anyone.
Life is good though, and I thought it worth making a note of that. I've recently had a great holiday in the Lake District with my mother and we went walking every day so I feel really fit now. I had a cold last week which was rubbish, but I spent so much time sleeping that I now feel really energised and rested. So it was worth feeling awful for a couple of days.
Now summer is over and the students are back at the university. They are everywhere! I'd forgotten how busy our building is when it's full of music and drama students shouting and singing and being very dramatic. We've had lots of lost students looking for rooms or buildings and they've been very polite so far so it's not much of a chore.
I'm still covering a different job to the one I used to do. I like it, and it's more money, so I'd really like to keep it if possible. I have to apply for the vacancy like everyone else, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I've been covering the work since June so I've got lots of experience now and everyone knows me so I have a lot in my favour, but if dozens of people apply then I could get pushed out by someone with lots of experience and great ideas. I'll find out soon though!
Even if I don't get to keep the job, I'm still enjoying work and I really like our office. The people I work with are lovely, and that makes a big difference to my day. If I don't get this job then I'll look for something else but stay within the university because it's such a supportive place to work and I don't really want to leave that yet.
Other than work stuff, my life is good but pretty quiet. I spend my time doing things that I enjoy but aren't necessarily great news. I go walking, I do some glass painting (making candle holders), I watch The West Wing, I usually see a film with James every wednesday, and every Tuesday I go line dancing. This thursday I have dinner with my walking friends and then a trip to a folk music night, and on friday I am seeing a short play with work colleagues and going for a drink in Withington. So I have plenty to keep me occupied but it's probably not that interesting to read about.
Oh, and James has caught my cold and feels pretty miserable. Poor thing. He still went out to watch the Manchester Derby on sunday at his friend's house. He wants a Wii but I think that we hardly ever have friends round so no one would play it. Maybe next year when we've got some money.
And that's my life at the moment! Hopefully next time I update we'll have Sky broadband, woo.
