Recital

I survived.  I sucked, but I survived.  She made me play last, after all the advanced students - ACK!  Oh well.  I guess somebody had to be the comic relief.  Katie sounded really good, though.  I gave her the rest of December off from lessons.

In completely unrelated news, it appears I have either a "stress reaction" or a "stress fracture" in my right foot; we're not exactly sure which.  If it heals in 3 weeks, it's a stress reaction which is kind of like a bruised bone.  If it doesn't heal in 3 weeks, it's probably a stress fracture, but since no visible fractures showed up on the x-rays the podiatrist will have to do some more investigating to actually find the source of all the pain and swelling before prescribing any more treatment.  in the meantime, I have to wear an aircast, which is a lot better than a traditional fiberglass cast because I can actually take it off!

We also sold my little car today.  We're lucky it made it all the way up to the CarMax in Kenosha because by the end of the trip the "service engine soon" light had come on and the transmission was literally grinding every time it attempted to shift, which it wasn't doing all that well to begin with.  CarMax gave us a whopping $100 for it, which was the minimum I was willing to take for it since I'm convinced there's at least that much left in it for scrap metal if nothing else, so I was basically satisfied although I was really hoping against all hope that we'd get just a little more.  I guess any amount was better than nothing and the process of selling the car to CarMax was certainly easier and probably more profitable than any of our other options.  I've been a bit nostalgic over this car; it was the first car I ever paid for and owned all by myself (no sharing it with my brother!) and I'd had that car for 13 years.  It was definitely time to let it go, but I'll miss that little Saturn.

1997 - 2010, 204049 miles.  Goodbye, Patience.  You were a good little car.
