Weekend Recap
Saturday:
Carl went to VIRTUS training. While he went to have 3 hours of his life stolen, I baked Cheesy Pickle Poofs. Something burning in the oven (something must have dripped) set off the smoke detector. I managed to reach the reset button by standing on a step stool and poking at the alarm with a wooden spoon. Unfortunately, there's something wrong with the upstairs detector and it doesn't actually reset when you press the button. So it went off every ten minutes until Carl came home to disconnect it because I'm too short to do it myself. It was a really long morning. Then we went to the Harvest Party where I proceeded to eat my own body weight in food. I did a few laps around the house to try to work it off a bit but frankly that strategy didn't work too well. I would have needed to do laps around the entire city of Elgin to effectively work off what I ate. We went home stuffed but happy.
Sunday:
Went to 9:00am Mass. Then we went to look at cars, but the dealers were closed, so we just drove around the lot a bit before heading to Pita Inn for lunch. Then we headed to Caruso Middle School in Deerfield to see our friend Alexis as Widow Corney in Oliver!. We were supposed to meet Carl's friend, Steve, for dinner and a movie after the show was over, but unfortunately he called to say he'd just been to the doctor and that he was genuinely too sick to entertain visitors. Since neither of us want whatever poor Steve has (he sounded pretty miserable, poor guy), we agreed to reschedule and came home to work on menial tasks and chores that were way overdue. We've caught up on a whole bunch of TiVo, Carl got my dad's burr puzzle started, I've played a whole lot of Café World on Facebook, and we put a dent in the dishes and laundry.
