My mom never wears jewelry, and has no interest in it. I guess I take after her in that.
Last night she took out (from an old suitcase) all the jewelry she owned. There were two tiny, gold hard bracelets about 1/4 inch thick, and six tiny rings. Both the bracelets and the rings were from when my sister and I were babies. It's Korean tradition to celebrate a baby's 100th day. Apparently, they put jewelry on them as a part of the costume. My mom also had matching sets of necklaces and earrings--one set with diamonds, and one with rubies. She also had two gold rings, as well as some other jewelry. Except for the baby jewelry, she got all of the other jewelry as gifts when she got married.
Today, she sold all the gold jewelry (baby rings/bracelets, and her own two rings) at a jewelry shop, and received $1,760! Rent costs $1,800/month. So what she got is perfect!! Enough to not worry until it comes time to pay next month's rent. Soooo relieved!!!
She's selling the rest of her jewelry later, when she finds the place that offers the most money.
