... or, it is all your fault bend_gules.
As some of you may know, bend_gules is rather partial to the Luttrell Psalter. She also has two friends, P and ?, who are seriously into split stitch. A fortnight ago I saw ? work on a split stitch design which she said would be turned into a bag once it was finished. I've not done this stitch before and so on the journey home I decided to have a go at it ... and in the process work a design based on one of the figures in the Luttrell Psalter to create a bag (theory is to raffle said bag and some other bits at Raglan in August to raise money for Drachenwald travel fund). The following day I looked at my Janet Backhouse book on the psalter, chose a design from those included in the book and the altered it so that it was more square looking. Since then I have been working on it on and off. Split stitch is easy to do but takes a while to cover an area, especially when you work in fine silk threads - it took me two evenings to finish one 'foot'.
This morning, whilst I waited for the DH to wake up, I looked through all my copies of "Stitch" which were to hand (to see all the techniques I want to try out at some time in the future) and then read the latest issue (#59) where I discovered that the Lincoln Bailgate Branch of the Embroiderers' Guild have been creating stuff based on the Luttrell Psalter.
Anyway, just thought I would let my friends know about this cool coincidence.
