Looks Like those Eating Habits WIll Sort Themselves Out Now

May 30, 2009 12:44

Well, I've been getting ill a lot in the past few months, usually after eating. Eventually it became serious enough that I went to the doctor about it (For those of you who know me pretty well, you'll know that I NEVER go to the doctor for things, so this was a big step :P) and the result?
No more gluten, and no more dairy.
Which limits things a little bit. You'd be surprised how many different foods have gluten in them, not just the obvious things like pasta and bread. Speaking of which- WHERE THE HELL DO THEY SELL GLUTEN -FREE BREAD/PASTA/PIZZA??? okay, I don't eat that much bread, and I'm a moderate consumer of pizza, but I cannot LIVE without pasta. At the moment I've substituted pasta with rice, but that is getting very boring, very quickly. I've had rice for lunch/dinner for the past 2 days now and I NEED to eat something else. As far as the dairy goes- the doctor didn't actually tell me that I should cut it, but I know that it makes me ill in too great a measure, and I just can't cope with that any more. That's another problem; some things make me ill that aren't gluten or dairy or anything. Like orange juice. What the hell, digestive system??? Seriously, one glass of the stuff has me lying in the foetal position for up to an hour. But other types of fruit juice seem to be okay. It seems that it'll be mostly trial and error for a while, so I can figure out what I can have and what I can't.
On the other hand, this sort of diet should make the weight fall off me, if I can stick to it properly. And that's definitely a good thing. I just don't want to end up bored.
So, that's where YOU lovely people come in!! If anyone happening to read this has any advice about going gluten/dairy free, it would be muchly appreciated.
