This is a crossover with the legend from pg. 64 of Joanne Bertin’s Dragon and Phoenix, but while Riya-Akono is not my OC, her daughter is. I was struggling to do a Greek-style myth for ages, then I decided to make it Chinese and it worked for me.

Once upon a time, back in the days of the Dragon Kings on Earth, the land was ruled by a cruel and wicked man. The Golden Dragon, among his crimes that had lost him the Mandate of Heaven, desired a certain woman. He killed her husband and carried her away as loot on his saddle.
The Silver Phoenix sought to kill herself to not be dishonored, but even her sash and slippers had been taken from her. She used her magic to disguise herself and fled.
The Dragon King followed her and she fled across the bridge that connected the Moon and the Earth in those days. He followed. She plucked the bow from the archer of the stars from there and used it to rain silver arrows down on him. Still he followed her into the bridge. So she waited until he was far up the bridge and then she untied the knots holding the rope bridge up. The Golden Dragon fell to his death upon the Earth and the Silver Phoenix was stranded on the Moon, by her actions the entire kingdom saved and made harmonious again.
Riya-Akono was a regal woman still, and moon spirits built her a castle of glowing white-silver moon rock. The spirits of the stars flocked to her and she became Xi Wang-Mu, the Queen of Heaven.
The Queen was with child from her murdered, noble husband, and she gave birth to a daughter as fair and shining as the moon. The spirits of the stars flew from far and wide to marry her daughter to their sons. But neither the Queen nor her daughter could leave their prison. So her son-in-law came to live in his mother-in-law’s house and his wife bore only daughters, as did her daughters as long as they lived in the heavens.
So began the Silver Millennium of the Moon Kingdom.
