No Sailor Moon was going to save her; she had thrown herself in with darkness, if a different darkness from this daimon attacking her. And no Nephrite was going to protect her from beyond the grave because Masato was here and he was the one in danger.
If anything made Naru angrier than being a burden, it was being completely useless. If she was a demon magnet then she was going to magnet demons. “Hey!” She threw a rock with muscles hardened by years of cheerleading practice. “Damn it, look at me!”
“Naru, what are you doing?”
“Hey buddy, I’m right here.” The daimon bore down on her and she turned and ran. If she had magic powers she damn well would have shown them by now. No one, her mother, Masato, was going to be in danger if she could lead it off.
She almost ran into a young man. He looked remotely familiar, ah yeah, Mizuno-san’s friend who had transferred back in. “Urawa-san?”
“Duck.” He shoved her to the side when she didn’t move fast enough. “I saw that you were going to be here,” he said by way of explanation as a spray of purple liquid went over them.
Masato limped after all of them, his blood oozing green. Urawa scrambled to his feet, but he was a teenaged nerd, wasn’t he? Why she was better than that she didn’t know, only that if someone was going to die it would be her.
She found another rock, large enough to break things, the skull was pretty thin, right? She may always be the demon magnet, the bait but she didn’t have to be the damsel in distress, the victim. She jumped towards the monster of the day. She was Naru and she would change.
