Letting the Terrorists Win

I've been up to my neck in politics all day.  Still upset and crying over the ridiculous bailout that's going to cost all of us-- every person in the USA, adults and children, $2500.  I just watched Bill Maher and they discussed a point that I think has been sorely missed in all of the election nonsense and economic crisis and gloom and doom and ( Read more... )

The truly frustrating thing is that people like myself marched against that stupid war before it even started. Lots of us did in fact. Yet the anti-war movement was barely even covered in the media until, let's see, 2006 when the Democrats finally won back the House and Senate and the media got a damn clue that a big reason was due to most of us being against the war. As for the notion that Bush was voted in twice, well, the first time he stole it and I think it's possible (Ohio) he might have stolen it the second time as well. It also frustrates the hell out of me that in fact lots of us have been and continue to be behind the impeachment movement. Yet that pretty much never gets covered.

The thing that pisses me off even more is that Bush is so evil and/or stupid that he STILL can't admit the obvious; that we're IN a recession. That bill was not drafted to "avoid" a recession. It was drafted because we're IN one and don't want it to get any worse. Yet he had the nerve to get up and say it needed to be passed to "avoid a recession"! Is he high or something? Or how about McCain who insisted until fairly recently that the economy was "stable"? I'm sorry. I don't know about the rest of you, but I've felt the economy has been crap for the entire Bush administration which is pretty much most of my adulthood. I don't recall a time in my adulthood feeling the economy was strong. Yet any Republicans I heard or talked to (be it in real life or the pundits in the media) all insisted and insisted that the economy was "strong" and "booming"! What a joke! Maybe it was booming along for the extremely wealthy, thus the reason I never really noticed? Then again, all of my Democrat friends agreed with me, so apparently there were two Americas. The haves and the have nots. The Republicans and the Democrats.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that being someone who was completely against the war before it started, for impeachment before 2004 even, and knowing full well the economy was in the shitter since perhaps as early as 2000, well, it just pisses me off that not just the politicians, but also a great deal of Americans failed to see the obvious and now we all are getting duped. I do think SOMETHING had to be done, that apparently (from what I've heard) there ARE some good parts about the bill, that despite the higher amount of money I think (hope anyway) it helps PEOPLE more than the previous draft did. But, I am still pissed off that such a bill had to even be drafted in the first place as I place a LOT of blame on Bush (the man who can't even utter the word "recession" or take any blame) and I also place blame on anyone who was stupid enough to vote for him in the first place whether he stole elections or not.

Funny what a week can do isn't it. The media is no longer talking "recession" and we've gone straight to using the word "depression" when talking about the collapse of our economy.

Remember the Clinton years? The balanced budgets. I really don't give a rat's ass who is blowing the president when our economy is stable and thriving. Seriously.

I was just thinking about all those "economic stimulus" checks that were sent out. Where would we be if the president hadn't felt it necessary to bribe the American people?

That John Titor stuff you sent me isn't looking so far fetched now, you know?
