life update
right, time for a little life update, i think.
workwise, there has been so much change. amber, jamie, alice and chalotte have all left us. and we've lost darling vicki to the education department. at least we still see her all the time. we got quite a few new people in the spring. adam, who has left now to go and do a masters but i loved him so much! he was ginger with a big beard, posh accent and exactly the same sense of humour as me. i was crazy about him, and i did kiss him one night, but then the next day he told me he didn't want to take it any further as he was leaving so soon. it made me sad, but at least i tried. then there's juta. latvian and absolutely mental. love her loads. then there's marc who is an old friend of chantelle's and apparently did uni with my brother. he's going out with caitlin, which some people think is a bit creepy, because he's 30 and she's 18, but i don't think it is at all. they're cute together. then there's danni who is an absolute cow. she went to school with conor and he tried to warn them, but did they listen? of course not. freddie who is so so lovely, and the new object of conor's affection, and catriona who's a posh girl. we also got steffi who was a bit irritating but has also left already. and kirsten who is very good at the job, but overqualified for it really. then we got another new wave of people for the summer as well. another danni who was very young and lazy and has been let go now. shame, cos she was sweet, but just a pain to work with. sam, who was a friend of adam's, who has been a bit of a prick to lots of other people, but i get on with him well. i think it's because i was rude to him when he first arrived so now he knows not to mess with me. louise who i love so much. she's so totally doolally and gives me four hugs a day on average. sarah, who is very sweet and apologises for everything, michael is an utter flirt but good at the job, and linda who was very irritating and moany. chris hunter went so far as to tell her that she was a joy vaccuum with no social skills. harsh. hard to know whose side to be on as i disliked them both. chris hunter has also moved over to marketing more or less full time so G is the new supervisor. he's not bad at all.
other than dynamic earth i've also been doing a wee bit of work experience at a high school to try and get into teaching again this year. don't even get me started on how disorganised and annoying my contact is and what a pain he's been. sigh. there's also an education volunteer position i've got. starting february. :)
we have yet another new flat mate. he's ash, who is a pal of will and colin's. nice guy. luke got a place on his own.
i've had a couple of good trips this year too. i went to london with mum and em as part of my christmas present. it was awesome. we saw wicked, war horse and matilda, which were all amazing, and also did the national gallery, the british museum and the science museum. em and i, of course, went to hard rock cafe and also spent a happy but very wet day in camden market spending all our money. that place is amazing!! i also went to brazil with the parents over the summer. rio is HUGE! very intimidating. not that we spent much time there of course. we went to the rainforest for the first ten days or so. it was pretty boring really. fucking freezing, very wet and just about nothing to see but birds. pretty though, and i did have a nice time with my camera taking pictures in the hotel gardens of the amazing bird feeders covered in hummingbirds though. then we went to pantanal wetlands which were incredible! never seen such a high concentration of wildlife. we saw four jaguars in one day! plus giant otters, capybaras, armadillos, massive parrots, caiman, agoutis, capuchin monkeys, deer...etc. it was epic! i bought a new lens for the trip. one i swore i'd never get. 150-500mm telephoto. it's huge! stupidly huge. i saved up for two years and got it second hand. it's my beast. love it. i had my usual italian trip with philip too. we did verona this year. it was awesome. i do love him so.
naomi's also bought her own flat, 2 minutes down the road from me! very exciting. i love having her as a neighbour. :)
and, well. here's my gossip. i seem to be dating monk. yes monk. my neighbour from first year. the antisocial mysogenist git. apparently he's liked me since he met me and we're now going out. it's been a couple of months and it's actually going really well. i can't believe it. i thought that three weeks in and i'd realise it was a terrible idea and we'd never speak again, but so far i'm really happy. he makes me laugh. it's most odd. i did my usual thing that i do every six months or so and went into his shop tt say hi when i was passing. he suggested dinner and drinks and he kissed me at the end of the night. i was very confused. didn't see that one coming at all. and he was clearly terrified. bless. i've not told kym yet. that won't be fun. i've told the brother though and he is highly unimpressed. i'm going to have my work cut out for me though if i'm planning on civilising him. he doesn't seem to know about cleaning and changing sheets and only owns two outfits, both of which he's had since uni. and he can't cook. oh my god he can't cook. like not even slightly. wish me luck!
