Occasionally, thoughts flash into my head that are so odd, I have to wonder where they came from. It's as if something in the lizard brain is suddenly lifting up its head and hissing. Fortunately, not things like 'kill that idiot ahead of me in line at the store who has suddenly decided to spend 5 minutes hitting on the clerk.' Well, not usually anyway.
No, the thoughts are mostly innocuous. The other day, for instance, the words 'carrot cake ice cream' came floating in on the froth from my subconcious, simultaneously bewildering and interesting me.
And now I'm on a fantasy ice cream kick, letting my hindbrain think up all sorts of flavours that I'll probably not get around to trying, plus a few I probably will.
For instance, lemon sorbet with blueberries and lavender has a pretty good chance of making it to the freezer. Roasted garlic ice cream, not so much. Likewise, wasabi is probably out of the running, but apple pie ice cream with cheddar might be made. Blood orange would be tasty, I think, but I'm less convinced about grapefruit. Passionfruit or guava would be lovely, although possibly not photogenic. Ginger with bits of candied orange would be interesting ,as would its polar opposite, orange with bits of candied ginger.
It's a game with no end, really. Until the weather straightens up and stops threatening us with snow, however, these will remain strictly dreams!
