A Good Day

Despite the nasty weather, it was a pretty good day. We had a quiet day at the Inn and I got a lot done. Jim also told me that he's happy with the way I'm getting used to things and said he thinks I finally hit the groove of things on Sunday. That was good, 'cause I'd actually been worried about how I was doing.

I got an invitation to Sasha's wedding today! It's in December in Savannah and I'm really excited about it : )

I decided to go see The Prestige, since it was the only thing playing in Tullahoma that I wanted to see. It was in the very last theatre - I hope that doesn't mean it'll be switched out within the next few days, 'cause I'd actually like to go see it again, and I know Christy wants to see it.

God, guys it was a really great movie - one of those few that actually completely sucks me in and I forget about everything else for a while. It was amazingly done and I loved how my sympathies kept switching around between the two main characters. I must say, Hugh Jackman cleans up nice - this may be the first movie I've seen him in that he wasn't scruffy-looking. I went into it already pretty much knowing the story line (which, given how complicated it was, actually helped at times), but I still really really enjoyed it. The costumes are amazing - not just pretty ('cause some of them weren't), but also with great attention to detail. There's this one scene where Scarlet Johaneson (who spends most of the movie in a corset) is wandering around in her this-is-my-underwear-corset (as opposed to her this-is-me-performing-in-a-corset) and the closures on it are perfectly period and it just amazed me that they got that precise for a peice she's wearing for maybe 2 minutes, that you only see close-up for seconds. Go costumer! Plus I think it's awesome that they actually put the curvey girl in the corset for once. And then there was Andy Serksis (yes, as in Gollum) and David Bowie. I actually didn't even recognise Bowie at fist (it was the moustache and the accent). I did recognise Andy Serskis immediately, but then, how could you not recognise Smeagol? 'course then Smeagol opens his mouth and an American accent comes out...

Anyway - it was a really really wonderful movie all around - acting, writing, costuming, and on and on. If you haven't seen it, you really should go. Oh yes - did I mention the really spiffy lightning bolt machine?

Then on the way home I bought The Da Vinci Code : D

good movies, clothes/fashion, good actors
