I'm not sure I get the correlation between the Chinese names for the dragons and the Japanese ones.

Is Ao Jun = Gojun, or is Ao Kuang = Gojun?

(NOTE: I've used @ou@ here to indicate a long 'o', because I can't type them)

Ao Kuang = Goukou (East)
Ao Qin = Goukin (South)
Ao Run = Goushun (North)
Ao Run = Goujun (West)

Annoyingly, both Jun and Shun are 'Run' in Journey to the West. There's other literature out there that gives them different names, but these are the ones I go with.

From wikipedia article @Dragon King':

The Dragon Kings are:

Dragon of the East: Ao Guang (敖廣)
Dragon of the South: Ao Qin (敖欽)
Dragon of the West: Ao Run (敖閏)
Dragon of the North: Ao Shun (敖順)

Hope that helps!

Maybe you can ask Kuang if he got in another tiff with Goku over Nyoi-bou, what with that tsunami and all...

(my sketchy knowledge of the original myths makes me think some might have been folk-explanations of tsunamis and other mysterious ocean pranks...)

Yes, or dragons loosing their temper - that can cause floods, tsunami etc. That's why they need to be placated with offerings and gifts to keep them happy :)
