Chapter 30
Acceptance
Junsu turned off his phone and placed it onto the table. ‘That was… weird…’
He decided to disregard it and turned to the side, his back facing the table. He found himself staring at his portrait on the desk across the room. Unknowingly, Junsu fell asleep.

+++

“Why do you always look so adorable?’ Yoochun muttered, kneeling on his side of the bed. Junsu’s cuteness was a sin. That was what Yoochun thought.

He stroked his lover’s cheek with the back of his hand. Junsu stirred, turning to the other side.

Yoochun hopped off the bed and crouched down beside Junsu’s bedside. He could not take his eyes off the sleeping boy. He would rather watch Junsu than sleep.

Junsu’s lips were curled up in a dreamy smile.

“Su, are you dreaming about me?” Yoochun asked, knowing well that Junsu could not hear him.

“You don’t have to. We’re already together. Idiot”

Yoochun chuckled, somewhat enjoying his one sided conversation. Junsu’s smile stretched wider.

“Yah, what are we doing in your dream?!” Yoochun exclaimed. He was thinking of perverted thoughts but then he quickly shook them out of his head. Why would Junsu even have perverted dreams?! He was too innocent!

Yoochun laughed to himself, his eyes travelling to the phone on the bedside table.

‘I wonder if he still keeps my messages…’

Curious, he grabbed the phone and turned it on, full of anticipation. He opened the messages folder and his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

“Yah! Su, who is Mickey?!” Yoochun exclaimed, outraged. His whole inbox was dominated by that single name. He quickly opened one of the messages and read it.

Yoochun scratched his head. “Oh…That’s me” He smiled sheepishly, realizing he had been angry for no reason.

Suddenly, an unknown ID caught his attention amongst his messages. Yoochun knew it was wrong to invade Junsu’s privacy but he couldn’t resist the urge.

He selected the message and pressed the button.

“Hey… It’s Yunho… Just wanted to say… good night” Every word cut deep into Yoochun’s heart.

‘I thought Yunho and Junsu didn’t know each other…’

~~
“No, I don’t know them” Junsu stuttered after a moment of silence.
“I just delivered food to them when I helped out in the set yesterday”
~~

Junsu had practically claimed that they were strangers, hadn’t he? Why would strangers have each other’s contact number?

Yoochun shook his head furiously. “I trust Su” Yoochun stated. But he wasn’t 100% convinced that Junsu and Yunho were strangers.

Fumbling with the phone, he browsed the folder thoroughly. He was relieved to only find one message from Yunho and it didn’t look as though Junsu had replied to it or sent any messages to that number.

Yoochun sighed before turning the phone off and placing it back onto the table.

“I can’t ask you, can I? Because then you’ll know I was looking through your messages” Yoochun muttered.

He walked over to his side of the bed and tucked himself in. He reached out for Junsu and encircled his arms around his boyfriend, allowing himself to become a pillow as he laid Junsu’s head on his chest.

+++

“Mmmm” Junsu moaned as he woke up from a very satisfying sleep. Junsu yawned before rubbing his eyes and opening them. The familiar surroundings startled him.

‘Yoochun’s bed!’ Junsu shot up quickly and sat upright on the bed. He felt a pair of arms drop off him. Turning around, he stared wide eyed at Yoochun who was sleeping soundly beside him.

‘Oh my god, I slept on the same bed with Yoochun again!’ Junsu yelped in his mind, unable to control his restlessness. A small squeal escaped his mouth.

He remembered looking at his portrait. Anything that happened after that was a blur. He noticed the comic sight of Yoochun. His mouth hung wide open. Junsu snickered as he grabbed his phone and immediately turned it on to camera mode.

SNAP!

Yoochun moved in bed, his arms shielding his eyes from the flashlight. He groaned before opening his eyes and realizing that Junsu had taken a embarrassing photo of him.

“Yah!” Yoochun exclaimed, sitting up and grabbing hold of Junsu’s phone.

“Yah, what are you doing?” Junsu held onto his phone tightly, prying Yoochun’s fingers off.

“Taking your phone so I can erase the picture you took of me just then!” Yoochun responded.

All of a sudden he stopped and spaced out. Something struck him. The text message from Yunho… should he bring the topic up?

“Yoochun?”

“HuH?” Yoochun snapped out of his thoughts.

“Do you have something to hide? Is that why you won’t let me take your phone?” Yoochun asked, trying to sound casual.

“No, I just don’t want you to delete the photo. Come on, it’s super cute” Junsu expressed, admiring the clear picture he had just taken of Yoochun. He snorted as he studied it.

‘There was no hesitancy… Is there really nothing to hide…?’ Yoochun wondered. Aish, Yoochun. Stop doubting him!’

Yoochun jumped out of bed and slipped into his slippers. “Get ready for school, OK? I’ll go toast some waffles” he said, wanting to take his mind off things. Junsu nodded.

Junsu set the photo as his wallpaper, grinning from ear to ear. He looked at it for a few more seconds before getting up, making the bed, and heading to his room next door.

He changed into his school uniform and fixed his tie in front of the mirror.

+++

“Whoa, Su. You look handsome for a change…” Yoochun noticed as he settled some waffles down in a plate, his eyes fixed on his boyfriend who had just come down the stairs.

Junsu blushed. “What do you mean ‘for a change’?” Junsu frowned as he took a seat at the dining table.

“I don’t know. It’s just that the school uniform fits you. You look so innocent” Yoochun commented, chortling. He placed a glass of milk next to the plate.

“Yah, what are you laughing at?” Junsu asked, crossing his arms. “I am innocent!”

“Not when you’ve already slept twice with me on the same bed” Yoochun mumbled. It was loud enough for Junsu to make out. His face turned into the colour of a tomato.

“We didn’t do anything!” Junsu protested, taking a waffle from the plate and stuffing it in his mouth.

“We did” Yoochun responded simply. He smirked as he took a waffle and bit on it.

“We did what!?” Junsu exclaimed. That was the exact reaction Yoochun wanted.

“Calm down, we just hugged” Yoochun said with smiling eyes. He saw Junsu’s chest rising and falling so quickly. It was obvious that Junsu had been panicking.

“Would you mind if we did something else?” Yoochun questioned.

“Like what?” Junsu’s eyes widened at his own question. “Wait, never mind” He said quickly. He raised the glass of milk to his lips and gulped it down in one go. Yoochun laughed at his flustered state.

“I’m going now” Junsu said, as he finished his meal, ashamed that he had once again lost to Yoochun’s words.

“Let me call Eeteuk”

“No, I can take the bus” Junsu insisted. He didn’t want to trouble him.

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah” Junsu stood up and pushed his chair under the table. Yoochun followed him out the door where Junsu slipped into his school shoes.

“Bye” Junsu said as he turned to leave.

“Junsu, wait” Yoochun stopped Junsu and gave him a quick peck on his soft lips. “Have a good day”

Junsu was dazzled by the sudden kiss.
“I will…”

The feeling lingered on his lips as he made his way out of the gates.

Junsu knew the day wouldn’t be a good one. The weekend had only been a temporary escape from the jeering and teasing at school. Junsu’s head hung low as he sat in the bus.

He dreaded this day like every other school day. But knowing that he had Yoochun at the end of the day gave him strength.

+++

Junsu stepped out and entered the school gates. Immediately a familiar face blocked his path. She had her friends behind her once again.

“What is it?” Junsu asked, knowing well that the girl wanted to throw snide remarks at him.

“How come I haven’t seen you around with Yoochun oppa? Did he come to his senses and decide to dump you?” she asked, sneering. Apparently there hadn’t been any news about them for a few days. They had managed to keep away from the eyes of the paparazzi.

Junsu remained silent. He didn’t feel that there was a need to reply.

The girl’s scornful smile was wiped away off her face. Junsu’s expression told her that they were still together.

“Are you looking down on me? Is that why you’re not answering?” She asked through gritted teeth.

“Just because you’re dating Yoochun, you think you’re all that!”

“Despicable” her friend commented, looking up and down at Junsu with dislike.

“And look at you. So hideous. What does he see in you?”

Junsu just wanted to escape, but it didn’t look as though he could. He averted his eyes elsewhere to look for somewhere that he could run to.

His eyes immediately landed on his sister. Yuri was looking straight back at him. They both blinked at each other.

“When I’m talking, you look at me! How rude!” Junsu turned back to the girl.

“Look at this hair, yuck!” She continued, taking a handful of his hair. Junsu winced as she pulled it.

“YAH! Let go of him!”

Junsu’s eyes widened. It was Yuri.

“I said LET GO OF HIM” Yuri repeated with a murderous glare. The girl immediately reacted and obeyed her. Yuri seemed to have frightened her.

“Let’s go” the girl suggested and with that, she and her friends left. Yuri pierced holes through the backs, her eyes never leaving them.

“Thanks…” Junsu said awkwardly. He felt grateful that his sister had stood up for him. It was the first time he had ever felt this way towards his sister.

“Are you okay?” She asked with what sounded like concern.

“I’m fine…”

“Good” She turned to walk away.

“Wait” Junsu called, stopping her in her tracks. “Yeah?”

“How come she was scared of you?”

Junsu cursed himself mentally. He was meant to ask her how she had been but it was a bit too mushy.

“Oh, I’m the most popular girl in the grade. Duh” She stated proudly, lightening up the mood.

Junsu found the fact surprising. He never knew that… Maybe it was because he never got a chance to fully understand her. They usually avoided each other at school and they didn’t talk much at home.

Just 3-4 days apart and he felt that they had drifted further and further apart.

“So if she comes near you again, she and her friends will become outcasts” Yuri said as-a-matter-of-fact-ly, her expression serious. Junsu smiled.

“So how have you been lately?” Junsu finally managed to ask the question, no longer thinking it was mushy. He really wanted to know.

“I feel free and I can do whatever I want…” She paused. “But it pretty much sucks without you” she added softly. Junsu was moved.

“Have you been eating well?” Junsu asked.

“I get takeaway mostly”

Junsu frowned. “You should eat home cooked meals. They’re much healthier. I have some easy recipes on the kitchen table…”

“I can’t be bothered” Yuri admitted giving him a hopeless smile.

The bell rang, signaling for classes. Junsu felt disappointed that his conversation with his sister was going to end. Yuri seemed to feel the same way too.

“Well, I guess I’ll see you…” Yuri said.

“Hey… why don’t you come to our place for dinner today?” Junsu suggested.

“Uh…”

“Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that…”

“No no… To be honest, I’m not as obsessed with Jung Yunho as I was with Yoochun… I still like him more… And I think I’m starting to accept the fact that you guys are… you know”

Junsu knew Yuri wasn’t very good at expressing herself when it came to these types of situations but she had gotten her message across.

“I’ll see you after school then” Yuri said, smiling.
