I did it!!
I can't believe it...the trip to Italy is finally BOOKED!!! So no matter what, I'm going, I have a plane ticket. Still don't know the details of what I'm doing once I'm getting there, but I know that I'm going to be there from July 20-30. And that I will arrive in Bologna and leave from Rome. Oh, and we're leaving Rome at 6 am. Guess we're not sleeping that night...we'll have to amuse ourselves in Rome in the wee hours of the morning. Shouldn't be too hard. I dunno, that seemed like a good idea at the time for some reason.
Oh, and an added twist. Katie and I were using STA Travel, a student discount travel agency (what? we still have student IDs), and found a flight to Bologna that connected in Amsterdam. So we called them and asked if they could possibly extend our layover. So now instead of being in Amsterdam for 2 hours, we are there for 12. I wonder how we'll amuse ourselves...
Of course we are insane. I will be working Thursday morning, then Katie will pick me up, we'll drive to ATL, hop on an overnight flight to Amsterdam, get there at 8 am, wander around the city in a haze until 8pm, hop on our flight to Bologna, arrive at 11, get in a taxi, and get to our hotel around midnight on Friday/Saturday. We'll never make it. We'll be passed out on a park bench in Holland and miss our flight.
