a poem about a kitty that i loved too...
written by one of my grandmother's priests, about zebra, who had lymphoma
to zebra
lost at my doorstep
so small against the promised cold
you begged a home that wyoming night
a certain warmth
and nothing more so bold
thus we met, an evening
long ago
traversed those years that i would have
return
but only so that you could once again
purr quietly
and i your wisdom learn
now fold your little paws
bring back
those years we shared
the summer sun and winter snows
the seasons gone that cared
and at my piano's beckoning sounds
jump once again into my lap
once more explore with me those motis
and golden, magic rounds
for sorrow's sake you taught me how
to gently clasp, then left life go
your spirit etched in white
upon the peaks
your presance always closer than i know
look down, litte zebra
with gentle love
and bless us , then
till in some heavens sunny glen
the distance gone
we touch
and hear your voice again
