This place evidently needed moar winged creatures.

[Tsuzuki is sitting outside in the warm weather. He's making small paper cranes, which transforms into birds. This drains on the remains of his magic. Some fly off, while others grow tired and fall to the ground.

He also, for some reason, have several water balloons resting by his ankles that he looks like he has forgotten.]

come bother him, first attempt, tsuzuki asato, *draco, texting other shinigami, water balloons were too a great idea!, *sheik, *takato, *smoker, *richard, *usagi, *hisoka, *frey

[Frey pauses in his walk around town, watching as Tsuzuki makes yet another bird with interest.] Is that magic?

[Tsuzuki stops his petting of one of the birds, and glances at Frey.

Mhm. Not much, but... At least they should be able to live for a couple more minutes. [Lifting the bird up to his face, Tsuzuki blows at it so it takes flight towards Frey.]

[Frey holds out a hand to it, giving it the option of a perch.] I've never seen magic that could make birds from paper, before.
[Yeah, he knew what origami was, but he'd never seen a person make real birds from it.]

[Apparently he got the derpiest bird ever, still it's bright enough to perch on his finger. Tsuzuki is relieved it didn't hurt itself.] Not everyone's paper turns out like birds. These are my signature, I think.

What kind of magic are you used to?

[Aww, derp birds are cool too. He carefully steadies his hand to make sure it doesn't fall, looking at it curiously.] Really? That's some amazing talent.

Hmm... Back home, we used what we call "runes" to perform magic. It's… well, mostly for battle. And healing, of course. Though some use them for other things.

[Knowing it's in good hands, the bird tilts its head at him, blinking tiny, black eyes at Frey's look before flapping its wings again. This time it uses his finger as a perch to dive from, before it flies up to rest on Frey's shoulder.]

Not really. They could fly across cities before, and they wouldn't get tired.

Runes? What did they look like?

[Frey smiles at it, mildly surprised at how friendly it is.] So I'm guessing they're used as messenger birds, then. Luceti must be limiting them.

Well.... Runes look kind of like small tattoos once they are attached on the hands or forehead. I have two at the moment, on my hands. [Under the gloves, but yeah, bird on shoulder.]

[Tsuzuki normally doesn't meet people that realizes the birds are used as messenger pigeons, and this surprise causes him to look more more closely at Frey.] They are! How did you...?

I'd love to see one. Does it hurt to attach them anywhere, or is it like make-up?

[He laughs a bit.] It was more of a guess. You mentioned their flying distance first. I also can't quite think of anything else they'd be used for, really, at their size.

Erm, no, It doesn't really hurt.Though I've heard it can if it's done wrong. [He'll slowly reach down and take off his left glove, trying not to dislodge the bird, and a second later this will appear.] They're usually invisible unless you will them to show or use them.

It was still neat! [Tsuzuki grins, ducking his head bashfully.] They're very good for finding lost people.

[The explanation of runes interests him terribly, though, so Tsuzuki looks at Frey's hand curiously. So does the bird on his shoulder.] So they're like spells that you control with your will? Provided you have the rune drawn on you.

What does this one do?

[What Frey isn't saying is he might have seen a few messenger birds in his time. Useful creatures, for getting information sent out quickly and safely.] They must be quite intelligent.

Pretty much, yes. Though it's not so much drawn on as attached by a rune sage. They originally come inside crystals, you see.

This one is a Cyclone rune. It uses the power of the wind to both attack and heal.

[He's amused, but he doesn't realize that Frey's got experience with them. ..Though he probably should've noticed.] I don't know. I haven't asked them before.

I don't think I've encountered that kind of magic before. Are there a lot of rune sages?

[Healing spells are Tsuzuki's secret favorites.] Can you use it here? Or is it limited like my birds?

[If Tsuzuki knew what Frey was doing before he came to Luceti? He'd probably freak.] Well, they seem both happy and smart, so I think you're doing quite well by them.

It seems to be limited to my world, I think. As for the rune sages, I've encountered at least one in each town.

I can, but the spells are limited to about half strength. I had to use them during the rain of trees a while back.
