My february 4th visit to BU

Feb 08, 2005 01:25

So, last thursday I left to go up to UCONN.  Which, from there I went to BU on Friday morning.  So thursday night I looked up directions to the Alewife train station.  Got directions, went to bed.. got up at 6:30 *eep!*  I got outside around 7 to discover that it had snowed the previous night.  So I cleaned my car off, warmed it up and got on the road.  Luckily the highways were perfectly fine.  So I get to the boston area take the exit only to discover the directions (and street signs) are ABSOLUTE SHIT.  I can't find the station, I'm buttfucking lost and have no idea where to go and driving around like an idiot.  So finally I realize I'm practically in downtown boston. So fuck it i'll drive there.  I call dima he tries to direct me but the directions are shit there too so I stopped at a gas station and the guy told me some quick easy directions.  Dima was on the phone looking at a map helping me out.  By now it's like 9:45/50 and I'm just barely getting there in time.  So finally I look across the street and it's where I'm supposed to be!  Yay!  Nearly on time.

I start looking for either where to turn around (it was on the other side of a divided highway) or where to park and just walk across.. when BAM!  I hit the biggest pothole ever.  I cross my fingers *don't be flat* *don't be flat*, but sure enough I hear the thud thud of a busted tire.  So I pull onto this access road for one of the BU buildings and get out in the icky slush to change my tire.  I call Prof. Runnels about my situation and he's very understanding.  So I start changing the tire, get some help from a maintenance guy.  Finally get the damn thing changed, turn around on this road and go to park in the parking lot right next to the building i had to go.  Go in.

I found everything alright.  I met with everyone.  Everyone was very nice and obliging.  One of the profs I talked to was really nice, he sounded really interested in what I had to say.  But in general everyone is really cool.  So felt better.  Got lost on the way out as well.  Which sucked, but I figured out where I was going eventually and got back to UCONN in one piece... well except for that bit of my tire, I suppose.

So the rest of the weekend went well.  I got back to school okay.. got inside.  Saw a letter from BU.  Opened it.  "Thank you for applying, but...." Sure enough I was rejected.  It was dated February 2nd.  Fuck me.
