Score today:55, 8 better than the 63 from during the week. Not as much better as it sounds; 4 lost balls for 8 strokes last time, all playable today on a more open course. All the lost balls last time would have been findable on this course, but this one is rated 1 stroke harder rating, 5 higher slope. So I'd guss about 2 strokes better overall.

1: (421/4) Sliced right, topped 3-iron, tried again & got the fairway, approach went right and dropped into a pine tree but stayed playable, tried to chip it out with the 3-wood but mishit for a 4-foot gain, toed it with the gap wedge into the bunker, just barely shot it out, and finished with a nice chip shot for an easy 1-putt.

2: (362/4) Sliced right into a tree that bounced straight down, 3-wood took off nicely but hit a branch and dropped HARD leaving a ball-sized hole in the fairway but the ball bounced out, nice 3-wood in the fairway, approach shot pushed slightly right, chipped to the near side of the green for a fortunate 2-putt.

3: (340/4) First of severall good drives on left side of fairway ~190, underhit the approach shot and left it far short, skulled the chip over the green and chipped poorly leaving a long 2-putt.

4: (469/5) Nicely straight drive only pushed a little ~200 into the fairway bunker (my first), another nice 3-wood ~180, badly hit approach fell short, the chip was good for a 1-putt and my first-ever par on a par-5!

5: (114/3) Teed 7-iron fell short in the mud leading to a chipping error followed by a skull far past the hole for a reasonable 3-putt.

6: (347/4) Sliced just a bit right falling short of the row of trees, attempted to go over with the 9 iron but topped it for a 15-foot gain, shot through the trees onto the fairway, 80-yard approach landed on the green for a 2-putt on a wildly curvaceous green.

7: (289/4) Nice drive down the left side of the fairway ~190, underhit approach shot, chipped to the green for a 2-putt.

8: (152/3) Topped the teed 5-iron, approach went a bit right, chipped to the green for a 2-putt.

9: (342/4) Aimed a bit too far left and drove straight ~180 just left of the fairway plenty shy of the 150-yard marker, 5-iron to the fairway, approach landed on the green for an atrocious 3-putt.

Prettiest shot: the fairway bunker shot on the 4th - without that beauty, no par!
Funniest shot: the second shot on the 2nd that left a ball-sized and ball-deep hole in the fairway under the branch it hit but somehow managed to bounce out. I don't know what I would have done had it buried itself.
Worst shot: the mud-chip in the 5th that led to the skull& 3-putt.

I was not pushing as badly today in general, and once I learned to relax my driver swing a bit it went much straighter. I have to practice with the wedges - those were the scariest shots because I didn't have any idea how far they would go.
