So yesterday at work turned out to be a nightmare, although the day started off well enough. We were really busy with the football and everything and yet we managed to keep the cash differences low which was good. And we must have taken about 800+ bets, which doesn't sound like much but which was actually quite a lot for our shop.
Of course, being stuck with poor Andrea all day yesterday this meant it took us nearly twelve hours to capture them all (I kid you not - we did not get rid of the backlog until gone 9.15pm - it should have been done by 4pm), and this meant that I didn't have time to do any of the marketing or to settle the wasted bets before going home which I just KNOW my manager is going to get shitty about today given the very long, specific note she had left me in the morning....
And of course, there was the Problem to deal with yesterday evening too which kind of took up all my attention too.
I don't know how she managed it but while I was out a dinner Andrea managed to crash her till and then put it into training mode when it restarted. She then managed to take a load of football bets whilst in training mode as well as create several hundred pounds worth of cash diffrences on both tills. How she did this I will never know but there you go - life's a mystery I guess. So anyway, I came back after an hour away to find these bets waiting for me and I decide to void/delete them; but when I go to bring them up in the system they show up as other peoples bets. So here we have a problem - we have a load of football bets that amount to about £720 that when scanned show themselves up as a load of dog bets worth about £10. Ooops!
So I ring the helpdesk, who kindly inform me that they have never heard of the problem before so I should just loser the bets; I shouldn't void them in case I delete the ones they are mimicking and that WOULD have created trouble. So I do as I'm told and loser the training-mode football bets but I'm then left with a cash difference of £700 and if I were to just go home having left that behind then my manager would have gone crazy. So I ring our supervisor, who also tells me to leave the bets as they are and see if the cash difference sorts itself out. Of course, it didn't so now my manager is going to have a go about that too, as well as the marketing and unsettled bets.
Oh, and then the settler decided to die a death too at about 8pm so from there on in I'm having to manually settle all the bets as well as deal with the Problem left by Andrea and what a nightmare! I restarted the settler before going home but I have a horrible feeling that all of last nights bets aren't going to have settled and that they will need doing this morning...
I REALLY don't want to have to face my manager today.
