1) If you were only allowed to hold on to one memory from your time at Tulane, what would it be and why? At Thanksgiving last year, the kids at Girls Hope called me and told me that I was what they were thankful for. They said their lives were better because of me. That conversation has really changed the way I think about what one individual can accomplish.
2) What is your view on kids? Do you want to get married and have kids? Adopt? No kids? I love working with kids but as far as having children of my own, I do not have much interest. There are so many children out there in need, I will probably end up adopting.
3) How do you think your life would've been different had you never come to New Orleans? Had I never come to New Orleans, I do not think that I would be so strongly invested in helping others. Don't get me wrong, I have always been a bleeding heart but being in New Orleans has really showed me how much some people struggle and yet still have the capacity for joy. Being in New Orleans and having experience Katrina has changed me immensely, it has really made me realize what is important. If I had never been to New Orleans, I do not think I would have the same worldview that I have now.
4) If you could make your dream-team lineup of bands for one night only (dead or alive musicians) who would it be and why? Good question. I would select an intimate, quiet atmosphere where you could really absorb all the music. There are a ba-million people I would love to see but in a dream night I would select the most powerful voices that evoke the most emotion out of me- Cat Stevens, Kurt Cobain, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Lead Belly, Al Green, Ani Difranco, Tori Amos, and Van Morrison.
5) You've got spunk Kea. And I know you used to be quite the spitfire - I don't let the old lady dresses throw me off :) What is the single most badass thing you've ever done in your life? I was arrested for underage drinking and riding in a stolen car and I had to go to juvenile hall. It sounds like I am making this up but sadly I am not.
