Day 7 - Journey to Jaipur

Mar 20, 2012 20:38

Mango juice and papaya for breakfast again this morning :)
I returned to the shop to collect my new trousers and couldn't resist buying several saris for making into... something-or-other..., a miniature painting of Krishna and his girlfriend Radha, and a pair of silver earrings.
It was soon time to load up into the coach and set off for the long journey to Jaipur.  I don't remember much about this long drive - I'll have to look back at my photos - but we did stop for lunch at a touristy restaurant where I bought a couple of skirts and a lovely citrine and smokey quartz bracelet.  It's not silver (probably 'German silver' or nickel silver) but it was worth the R1000 just for the stones.
Eventually we arrived at the Country Inn and Suites in Jaipur, which was a bit of a come-down after the palatial Nahargarh.  It's a pretty standard business hotel on a main road.  Lots of traffic noise, even more pigeons, rather arrogant staff (I got very bored very quickly with standing around at reception being ignored).  But the bed was comfy enough and when I made the mistake of lying down for a moment, the next thing I knew it was the next morning.
