For most of my life, I have not been a "group"type of person. I ahve many friends, all over the place, but I don't normally hang out with the same people every day. Just before, and while we were in montreal I have spent a lot of time around Annie, Sarah, Kevin, Kai, Dan and Theo. At first it was because we were going to travel together, and no one has phones or regular internet access. So we'd make sure to run into each other just to keep in touch and see what was going on.
Now I have spent so many days with them. Now in Toronto we gather at the end of each day in the kitchen around candlelight, sharing the bits of food we each accumulated, creating a feast. We tell the stories of our day, and create new stories together.
Now Kevin will leave for Halifax with Chelsea, who we met in montreal. Sarah, Kai and Annie (+Theo?) will leave on wednesday for B.C. Kevin may come back out this way in July/August so that we can travel out west together. I really like living in a community, seeing what adventures we find, sharing everything. We all help each other out, no one goes hungry, thirsty, lonely, bored or without exercise. (I guess you don't have to travel to Israel to find a kibbutz setting!)
my heart is happy, but a little sad.
I want to bring someone into the travelling world. These guys have helped to open me up so much more. It's only been two-three weeks of intense group time, but much of my mind has changed.
