So my personal goal today was to write 500 words. I wrote more than 1,500 words.
Very pleased with myself!! I've also now written six whole days in a row, for a total of 3,952 words. I'm still a smidgen behind overall, if I want to write steadily throughout the year, but that's normal. Like, I know I won't be writing Friday at all, and probably not much on Saturday, if at all. I hope to write at least 300 words tomorrow (although I will still aim for 500), but I leave for Poitiers, so we'll see.
I just hope I don't end up burning myself out or something. I don't think that will happen. I think
getyourwordsout was just the boost I needed to start writing regularly. So thrilled with my progress!!!
What I wrote today was a conversation between Author and Marielle, aka the writer of Cinderella and the title character of his book. It's modern, but it blends fantasy/reality, and actually talks about the existence of both worlds. I might post it unedited tomorrow, but as much as I like it, it's like the initial throw-up copy. Sometimes I do a lot of editing and revising while writing an initial piece, and so by the time I finally finish, it's pretty polished, like "Kisses" and "A Father's Failure." Other times I just write everything that comes to mind for a story, and then I have to go back and fix it. But since I won't have much time to edit for several days, maybe I'll just go ahead and post it. Je ne sais pas.
