Ma vie, etc.

Wow, I am a total slacker about updating this blog.

Highlights?

Two weekends ago, Sarah and Sally visited me. We spent Saturday at Disneyland Paris. So much fun. The ride "It's A Small World" was decorated with Christmas scenes, and the music was a mix of "Jingle Bells" and the normal song.

Last weekend, I celebrated Thanksgiving twice. Saturday night was An Au Pair Thanksgiving, with 18 au pairs, at my friend Jessica's house. Her host family very kindly let her have all of us over. Sunday night was Thanksgiving with Beccy and Stuart and a bunch of their friends. It was a very bilingual night, so lots of fun. I tried--and liked!--oysters for the first time.

I've spent a lot of money this weekend--good thing I normally save almost all my salary. Friday, I bought a full-length, suede, fully-lined in fake fur coat at a secondhand store, along with a cute, hippie-esque shirt for 48 euros (I bargained, in French, to get that price!). Yesterday, I bought a black formal dress for Deb!!!! Only 199 euros, which is a great price for a formal dress. And it doesn't even need to be altered! I'm so excited. I've borrowed a dress four out of five years. Only for my own ball did I have a new dress. Finally, last night, I bought a pearl necklace with a real rose that had been turned into a jewel, for 25 euros. It is absolutely gorgeous. I don't need it, but I couldn't resist.

The Christmas markets in Paris are amazing. I've found Christmas gifts for Madison, Kimi, Aimee, Jeremy, and Mom, all reasonably priced.

Orla needs the laptop. Au revoir!

Edit:

So...Christmas markets. They're everywhere. I've been down the one along the Champs Elysees three times now, once at night so I could enjoy all the pretty lights. I've been to the one at La Defense twice. Some of the others I want to check out don't open until this coming weekend. I need to plot out all the Christmasy things I still want to do before I go home.

Speaking of Christmasy things, I love all the Christmas lights, not just in Paris, but in Le Vésinet and in Saint Germain-en-Laye. They're sooo pretty!!!

I go home December 19, for two weeks. I'm already scheduling plans with my friends. I can't wait to see everyone. And McPhee is coming to the Deb Ball with me!!! Harry is bringing our friend Caroline, who's like a sister to him. This is Jeremy's first year to attend with a date! He saw my presentation, of course, but that was different. Now he's old enough to go for real. My parents have to miss out, because my mom will be recovering from knee surgery, but the three Long children can represent the family.
