Flashback.....Sat Feb 7th, 1998
Five years ago this weekend.
She and I had had an "on again, off again' romance for almost a year. On this night, it had been in the "off again" state for about 3 or 4 weeks. I had met a couple online who lived in a city about 150 miles away from me. On this particular weekend, we had decided that me and my kids would come over there to meet them. We were supposed to go on Friday night, but I picked up the kids too late to make it over there, so we decided that we would meet on Saturday night instead. We all met at a McDonalds. Ate some food and let the kids play. After that, for some reason, one of them suggested that we go to Wal-Mart. We had been in there shopping for about an hour when we went to the check out. And right there.....just two aisles over......there SHE was. I was 150 miles from home, and she was about 50 miles from home. And we both ended up in a check out line at the same time in the same store. When I got home that night, she was waiting for me online. We both felt that was pretty freaky, especially given that she was supposed to have gone to that WalMart on Friday night, but ended up for some reason not going until Saturday night. But as we talked further, we both decided that was a sign from God that we were to be together. 6 days later I asked her to marry me.
